Bill McGrath quoted "around £2k" when I asked a while back. I suspect you could get it a little cheaper if you shopped around as I asked in the context of what I should negotiate off a car for sale so I belive they quoted on the high side.

Frank, its about £1100 for the plate and cover from an indie. You should also get the spigot bearing (£20) changed. The clutch bearing is pricy, about £250 or so, and is advised to be done every other clutch. This also applies to the flywheel which again is about £200.

When mine went 2 weeks out of warranty, I paid the labour and Maserati UK supplied the parts. I paid £700.

That was cheap labour Conaero....if its £147 an hour at Hursts.....and its a 10 hr job.......!!!!

No Dem, an Indie will do the labour, plate and cover for £1100 all in, I know that this is Emblems price.

As I say, McGrath's quotes tend to be on the high side as, I believe, they quote for worst case. Having spoken to them (not yet actually met them!) a couple of times, I'm confident that if bits didnt need replacing, they wouldnt do it. I.e. the additional bits mentioned above.

Of course....but useful to take into account Conaeros advice.....esp about replacing additional items because the labour/time factor is quite large!

Just had mine replaced. I'd banked on the clutch, the spigot and bell-house bearings, but on dismantling and SD diagnosis, also swapped out the thrust bearings (Hill Engineering 360 set with OEM seals) this all added up to about £1.2K in parts. Thankfully the flywheel was okay.

Interestingly the SD had stored about six codes against the thrust bearings (hence swapping it out). This is the same number of flashing gear selector incidents I've had, so I think this may well indicate a wearing of the thrust bearings?
