Hey

I'm looking for a few bits for my GS. I've had a look at eurospares but can't see the precise detail. Help most appreciated.

1) chrome air vent surrounds. Mine are flaking a little.
2) maserati trident chrome wheel centre badge. Standard 19" GS wheels.
3) indoor car cover
4) trickle charger
5) is there some kind of temporary tyre repair gunk or similar in lieu of a spare wheel?

That's it for now. More to come I suspect!

Cheers

1. Main dealer/Eurospares or a guy on eBay sells turned aluminium ring ones from time to time
2. Main dealer/Eurospares
3. Genuine Maserati one, try main dealer but £££, eBay occasionally.
4. Take your pick, lots on the market.
5. Big can of Holts tyre weld from Halfords! I assume you don't have the spare wheel.

Cheers.

Every once and a while a Maserati compressor/foam kit comes up for sale or any gunk will do

Get wheel centres from Eurospares, see forum sponsors

Someone did metal surrounds as the chrome stuff always flakes off

Again, indoor covers come up on ebay...will put up for you

C-tek charger is same as Maserati own trickle charger at 1/4 price.

Spare wheel issue can be overcome by getting a Merc space saver and using an adapter see thread on same

Mike beat me to it...must be getting old.....;)

Cheers. Tried eurospares but couldn't see the precise part numbers on the diagrams. Don't want a full air vent set, just the chrome.

If you want a compressor/foam kit buy one cheap on ebay, from say a Ford Focus...a tyre is a tyre, unless you must have the branding!

Not sure you can get just the surround

P

You can't, it's all or nothing for the side vents. The central ones you can buy separately..... at a price...

Side vents:

382300802: £17.79

Central vent surround:
382300803: £62.20

Both of my side vents have flaked, not sure what the best or most cost effective solution is

Take them out and rub them down with very fine grade wet & dry. IMO looks better than the chrome having them all matt black.

1) chrome air vent surrounds. Mine are flaking a little. - as MAF, probably best to have them out and de-chrome IMO.
2) maserati trident chrome wheel centre badge. Standard 19" GS wheels. - I bought mine from GrayPaul Notts. I think they were actually for a QP
3) indoor car cover - eBay?
4) trickle charger - I have a CTEK MX5.0 I think, was something like £65 of Amazon. Does the job.
5) is there some kind of temporary tyre repair gunk or similar in lieu of a spare wheel? - I have two cans of Holts as I believe it perishes with age so didnt want to buy an old one off eBay

Responses added above - my 2p's worth

my thought was to rub them down, i tried picking the chrome off with them in situ but havent got very far so guess i'll need to remove them to do it properly, is it easy enough to remove them?

The chrome goes everywhere, so best not to remove it in situ. It's very easy to remove the outside and rear vents - open the flaps (ooohh errr!) and pull the centre section out. Then you'll see the remaining outer tube. Look for the tabs that hold them into the dash and lever out gently. Rub down with fine wet & dry and you'll be left with a matt black finish. As per a Haynes manual "refitting is the opposite of removal". The 2 larger inner vents are more tricky as they're held on with screws from the back. You will need to remove the dash top to get at them. I haven't done this yet, but will be doing so before Le Mans next week as I have an annoying rattle from behind the dash anyway.

Hey

A quick update on the bits and pieces that i've been doing to my GS plus a few questions...

1) Got some holts tyre weld. Couldn't see the point in buying the Maserati branded stuff.
2) Still got flaking air vent surrounds. Think I'll leave it and call it "patina".
3) Ordered a new chrome trident for the wheel centre. Was a mission and even a visit to my local dealer, Graypaul Edinburgh was a waste of time. It is the same as the QP centre so have one of these coming. I plan to refinish the wheels in the same gloss black as lozcb had done before me. I wasn't a fan at first but with the big AP brakes and red calipers, it's grown on me. I'll pick out the 3 remaining tridents and replace all 4 when the wheels get back from the finishers.
4) Ordered a nice new set of Vredestein Sessantas to replace the now very worn set on the car. Seems rude to re-finish the wheels and put bald rubber on!
5) Not found a genuine Maserati indoor cover yet. I was too scared to ask Graypaul for a price! I'll keep searching Ebay.
6) Discovered that the Oxford trickle charger for my Ducati has switchable car mode. I'll use that through the bitter Scottish winter.
7) Booked the car into a specialist for a few wee bits including fresh fluids, bonnet catch repair (can't open the bonnet, even with the emergency spare handle thingy!!), handbrake cable tightening, outside temperature sensor, re-glue of loose headlining panel, general check over particularly suspension ball joints etc, maybe a new spare key if he can manage to code one and a repair for the auto folding (but the don't) mirrors.
8) Transferred my plate to is and gave the old one away on this form. Just waiting for the DVLA to actually deal with it.
9) Bought one of those key rings from Bill McGrath.
10)The key still looks like a Fiat after-thought but the key ring is nice!10) Finally, i've dropped the carbon spoiler, that loz kindly gave me, to be re-finished and re-laquered at my local paintshop. He reckons it's got a resin of some type on top of the carbon weave which may be quite difficult to smooth well. I hope he can do it! We'll see.

Things I need help with still...

1) Spare key coding - is there anyone that can supply a spare key etc without the crazy main dealer cost?
2) Indoor cover - as above
3) What tyre pressures are people running? Standard GS 19s with Sessantas all round? Usually in Sport mode which I understand can cause the odd blow-out on our silky smooth British roads! But with Larinis, what's the point in not using Sport all the time?
4) Need some new wipers - is there a Bosch Aero option? I do like the aero wipers? If so, what sizes and fitments?

On the cards for next year..

1) Re-stitching of door air bag leather panel
2) Refinishing of leather of front seats - i have a little diver's side bolster wear beginning
3) Repaint the nose, wing mirrors and trailing edges of wings etc
4) New driver's wing mirror glass - mine is a little faded.
5) Improve the frankly rubbish standard Becker system. I'll probably go for an all singing, all dancing, Alpine single din head unit and upgrade the speakers etc using the same grills etc to keep the look standard. Maybe a small amp mounted under a seat or in the boot void to keep it hidden too.
6) Drive it to Monaco for the GP!

So, it's already under my skin and my 4 year old son as asked me to keep it for him until he's a big boy! I guess I might as well look after it then!

Cheers

I saw it, but was busy :(

Things you need:
1) Nope, I really doubt it. You might get a key from ebay, synch it to the alarm, and add the transponder, but you'll still need the blade.
2) No idea, sorry
3) 2.1 on my 4200
4) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310351059723?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Stupidly cheap and jolly good IME.
