No doubt I will be stuck in huge tailbacks in and around Bristol again tomorrow... Whilst chucking out 3x the emissions I would normally do on the free flowing roads.

How so..?
You just said it didnt concern you...FFS !

Whatever..I get it. And I cant be arsed to get into it with silly old men hating on a teenager with Aspergers..
Whats your excuse..?

Thinking someone's a pain in the arras and hating them is totally different.

Oh, I just noticed that Phil pointed out the same thing two posts above.

Isn't it funny how easily vexed the world is? Thank **** we have warmth, safety and enough to eat that we can get so incensed over things of such little consequence. (I mean Greta, not climate change, which is a more existential challenge than a diminutive yet vocal Swede.)

Or, perhaps, we so readily use words like 'hate' and 'love' whereas in the past we moderated our words and emotions better. Perhaps in the past we had real things to concern ourselves with. Like warmth, safety and food.

The charging point guys have to get their infrastructure build costs back somehow. No surprise that once people buy into a 5p equivalent with so-called green potential, they raise the price. The oil boys have been ripping us off for decades, now it's the electricity boys chance to do the same.

All except Tesla, who run in huge debt supported buy their stock value the US Government. They are a battery company anyway and only want their tech to be so core that you have to buy from them if you are making EVs.

Corrected that for you. ;)

I wonder how Greta is getting to Bristol. Driving an EV from Sweden? Maybe walking? Or getting the train?

I hope it's a 'green' mode of transport. Wouldn't want Greta to be accused in anyway of being hypocritical.

One thing that does bugs me about her though. Who in their right mind (or wrong mind) thinks it's a good idea for children to be missing out on their education to protest?
People protested in the past to get an education! I just think that part is completely and utterly wrong.

Many, it would appear, disagree. In the same way they take their children from school to go on holiday </SJP>*

[/QUOTE] Perhaps we had to interact with an actual person, that tends to moderate people.

It seems we have gone to extremes in many areas with little in-between. On social media we have always had like/dislike or thumbs up/thumbs down. There needs to be some in-between surely.

It is also similar with many opinions. Talking historically now of course but you were either for Brexit or against. There was no in-between which is where I sat.

Surely we can find some middle ground other than love or hate?

The electric car thing is just another failed opportunity and a disaster waiting to happen due to common greed, corruption and growth pressures.

Make the people buy into the so called greener option then tax the h3ll out of it and onto the next con. The gravy train will continue as it always does.

When is enough enough for some people. Why do we have to grow or be happy or sad. Can't we just be thankful and content.

I've not driven much this week but a couple of weeks ago I saw 3 EVs stopped on the M6
A i8 on the grass with the hazards on
A Tesla model 3 being loaded onto a recovery truck
A leaf on the hard shoulder

It did make me wonder, if the price of charging away from home increases considerably how many will chance it to get home rather than spend £10 and an hour waiting.

I wonder if some purchasing of shares in AA and RAC etc. might be in order at some point. If I were.them I would be charging for recovering an EV when out of juice. I should imagine the road sides will be littered with them in a few years. Well maybe not all on the road side with Smart Motorways....maybe still on the road!

That will make a recovery interesting. You would have to close the road to do it!

Have you seen the reports of how much the Audi, Merc and VW network have put up their EV charging points up to?

Works out a c£40+ for a full recharge... will be sticking to my diesel work car for ever at this rate.

Trouble is it makes the while EV thing start to fail before it really begins.

If I was a brave man I would be shorting Tesla stock. With a few more accidents and increased electric charging pricing I just don't see an obvious scenario where this whole EV thing plays out.

I'm going to a big construction site in London Monday to set them up a temp popup 4G router with remote access one basement car park. Will be interesting to see how many spaces they have installed as a percentage of overall spaces. I would think 50% would make sense but I'll be surprised if it is as much as 10% in reality.

The whole idea and ambition is great but seems mainly all talk but thinking the trousers will be lacking.

I expect we will eventually see a mix of renewable tech where different scales of vehicle use different systems. The biggest offenders are ships so I’d be looking closely at cruise line stock as surely it’s only a matter of time before the tide turns (pun intended) and people realise that the floating hotel is chucking out more **** on their sunshine cruise than they will be responsible for at any other part of their life. It’s easy for people to campaign against local issues - blocking roads, stopping runways etc. It’s more complex to raise havoc with container ships and oil transport etc.

Virgin just launched a cruise ship monstrosity which laughs in the face of all the other righteous stuff the claim to do for the environment.

I expect to see self driving electric for normal transport, hydrogen for everything from HGV to ships. It will take 20 years plus to sort the infrastructure but it will happen.

As for what happens to our cars....petrol will be produced in lower volume and there will be a serious cost to use these things, making them for special occasions and the wealthy only. It will become a cult only.

I have no issue with dealing with environmental issues. Provided there is sense involved in the process and the governments don’t just sell out to whoever they think will feed them the most in the process.

Battery tech, charging tech etc will all improve and is already. I have an investment I’m looking at just now which adds charging points into lamp posts, opening up those that don’t have driveways or underground garages etc. It’s coming, quickly, but not immediately.

Until the Farmers start feeding the World growing food with Electric Tractors I'm keeping my Petrol and Diesel Motors.
Can't see my French neighbours giving theirs up either.
Never felt the inclination for a Cruise other than on the roads with like minded souls.

Not sure what was going on but saw a disproportionate number of Teslas in Dublin yesterday normally they are a rare site as the EV charging system has even less coverage, outside Dublin, than the UK
