Funnily enough saw he’s car on jayem YouTube channel and got me thinkingSame engine (basically) so similar power. However, the F430 weighs a fraction of what the GTS does so it would leave it for dead on the road.
Obviously it’s much smaller so possibly less useable, @voicey from AV engineering has one and rates it highly.
It’s a Ferrari so parts will probably be cheaper!

Hi all was looking for some advice who’s made the jump from granturismo to a Ferrari f430 is it worth the extra 30 or 40 grand is it that much of a step up I know it probably is in terms of performance any advice appreciated
Hi...just replaced my 2018 Grancabrio. I’ve had 4 GTs over the years. Loved the style and sounds of each. It was time to change direction. Not happy the next generation will be electric and probably not be available in the states for a couple of years. Took delivery of this product from across the pond 2 days ago. To me it has the style, sounds and craftsmanship the Mauser had.View attachment 79597View attachment 79598View attachment 79599View attachment 79597View attachment 79598
I thought the Ferrari would be more expensive to maintain heard the horror stories about exhaust manifolds there’s many cars I’d like at that price point Lamborghini Porsche Aston McLaren but I was once given a birthday as a kid that said hope all your dreams come true including the Ferrari!OP - I went from a granturismo to a F430 about 4 years ago. I can tell you it is a totally different experience.
PROs:
CONs:
- performance and feel are just in a completely different league. The car is and feels way quicker and nimble due to size, weight and power. Way more responsive and lighter. It’s all the performance you’ll ever need.
- the sound is way more intoxicating and sounds a lot purer. I adored the GT sound (MC corsa exhaust on mine), but it was “fatter” and not as crisp. The F430 screams and is truly deafening from the outside.
- Not that much more expensive to maintain than a GT MC shift - if you buy a well sorted car. Use a trusted Indy (AV engineering for example)
- the sense of occasion is without comparison to the GT. I have had my 430 for 4 years, and I still have butterflies and a slight shake when I step in the car and press the red start button. I guess that’s what 70+ years of racing pedigree does to you... that and the aura impressing on the child we all have within ourselves.
As to whether it is worth an extra £30k - only you can answer this question. Whether your networth is 500k or 5m, whether you make 50k or 500k a year, how important is that itch to you, whether you really need the 4 seats etc...
- unless you live in Knightsbridge, you won’t go unnoticed anywhere, esp if your car is red.
- you will worry about leaving it parked up in the street when you go out for dinner (esp if red)
- the minute any builder coming to your home sees the car, your quote will go up 30%
- the day you sell it, will probably be sadder and more of a pain, as you can forget private sale...
If you asked me today whether I would trade down to a GTS again and get £30k extra in my pocket? I’d say **** no!
Would I want to own a GTS again sitting next to my 430 and my 550? I’d say **** yes, as it’s an amazing value proposition !!
I did upgrade the manifolds the second I bought the car - not that expensive tbh esp if installed by someone like Aldous.I thought the Ferrari would be more expensive to maintain heard the horror stories about exhaust manifolds there’s many cars I’d like at that price point Lamborghini Porsche Aston McLaren but I was once given a birthday as a kid that said hope all your dreams come true including the Ferrari!
At 70k budget i would be seriously tempted by a manual V12 Vantage.
I see a lot of negativity towards McL and with good reason. But as some say, a second hand low miles example that had some/most of the post production issues ironed out and at low price could be a smart and rewarding purchase.
As above .
Some 430s are in Cali T price territory and I think I could be tempted in that direction instead
