Having had my old 4200 for six years nothing EVER went wrong it (apart from rust of course)
I was expecting my GranT to give similar levels of reliability but so far bit disapointing: It still has only 19,000 miles but.......
17,000 miles New engine mounts (vibration at idle)
19, 000 miles New power steering oil cooler radiator (huge job whole front of car off)
Mechanic noticed during this that one front spring was broken , and the oil filled lower control arm bushes were ruptured. Another 10 hour job.
I suspect that during a recent wheel alignment (by someone who should know what they were doing) they tried to adjust the bushes (which are shimmed) but the bolts were seized and he ended up twisting the bushes instead and rupturing them......Whenever a full geometry is carried out I should think this is a pretty easy thing to mess up on these cars.
Complete bush set and 2 new springs now ££££££££ not overjoyed................
