Funnily enough this popped up on my FB feed just now

It's just a parts bin special:

"The Special Edition is based on GranTurismo and GranCabrio Sport versions and only 400 units will be produced. The main unique features of these new and exclusive versions include the New Rosso Italiano three-layer paint for the exteriors, reinterpreting the red of Fangio’s 250F – F1 champion in 1957 – and emphasizing the link with Maserati’s heritage. Not to mention the wheels: MC-design 20” alloy wheels with a new Glossy Black finish that matches the Special Edition logo wheel centre caps.

The interiors have also been reimagined: the new interior design revolves around Poltrona Frau leather or leather/Alcantara upholstery and new interior stitching available in 4 different combinations. Other distinguishing interior details are the door sills in carbon fibre featuring the Special Edition logo and the dedicated plate on the central tunnel with a carbon fibre holder, commemorating the anniversary and the limited production run of 400 units."

Makes sense, the Centennial edition was only for the Stradale or the Grancabrio MC and there was never a run out version of the Sport. Why not, everyone else does it?

I smell a rat here, that NAV looks stuck on and the front bumper is the same as the SPORT. You can see in the video that its actually blue underneath so not even painted for the car its on.

Why would you stick disguise wrap on the grill fins that are the same as the old one and can already be had in matt black, grey and chrome???

Agreed, the front bumper looks no different to me ... And as for the infotainment, yes it's poor in the GTS but that was never a deal breaker for me. If I wanted great tech options like HUD, touch screen, sensors, cameras, lane guidance, self parking and all this malarky - I would look for a German car but would end up with no soul or style ;-)

I was in Marshall Oxford on Saturday. Their understanding is that GT production is confirmed to restart in September. It'll be restyled inside and out but the same platform. So mostly a face-lift with new tech. They're not sure about the engine.
I did also rev up the QP GTS. Not as free revving as our NA engines, but the antilag crackle is intoxicating. I'll drive it soon and update you.
New Gransport next year.

It's a mule that's for sure. Why else cover the front end? (that's clearly all that has changed). It's a sad state when all they can do is facelift a GTS really.

That infotainment system looks out of place in that size centre console, way too bulky and cumbersome.
If that's just an initial lash up and they do a better job of integrating it (and there should be space) then I actual think they may be onto a winner.

The outside still looks spot on. Interior space is great across the board for the type of car it is IMO.

I wonder how easy it would be to add some of the additional gadgets that people tend to expect now. I would have thought fairly straightforward.

New engines may be a bigger stretch. But a two tier V6 and V8 line up would work if homologation were doable.

I reckon they could buy a good number of years before needing something with a totally new body, and decide what they want to do ref Alfieri.

I've only seen a photo of the front but you get the Stradale bonnet too but not the wings. I could see the exhaust at the side corner as well so they have not used the central exhaust exit or rear diffuser

Recall reading a while back the infotainment unit in the GT couldn't be upgraded to that in the Ghiblii etc because of the electrics layout/CAN Bus set-up?

Otherwise, just looks like a number limited run of essentially different paint jobs a la the Centenary editions.

So has the Sport Edition got any more. Power is it it just cosmetic. If no more power why the Stradale bonnet snout ?

I don't know if it has more power but my guess is they had 400 bonnets left over so they used them for this special edition. Cynical, me? Never
