Folks,

I now have a painted replacement PDC ready to go to hopefully fix my parking sensor woes. Quite happy with the spray can match to my Bianco Eldorado colour from a spray can.

I have namastes guide which I’ll use for the bumper removal

Query is, when I disconnect the battery anything specific I need to know? I have actually replaced my own battery before which was a quick out / in job, but if it’s going to be disconnected for a few hours should there be anything specific I need to do?

I seem to remember issues with dash clock dates causing problems with things I’m wondering will I need to reset the date and time and do I need to avoid anything specifically?

Cheers

You do need to reset the clocks yes

Also you need to reset the body computer or the window drop, soft opening eta won’t work:

Using the key with all doors shut;

Lock
Unlock
Press and hold the boot button till it pops

All done

Spot on cheers Matt.

For the clock reset is there a sequence I need to avoid? Wasn’t there something about setting an old date accidentally or something that messes something else up on the dash?

I wonder if it’s actually necessary to disconnect the battery?
If the ignition is off there is no proper going to the sensors and all you are doing is unplugging a few connections and plugging them back in.

I certainly didn’t bother when I changed sensors on my first GTS.

Meh. It can't hurt but you're right. And everyone knows how good I am with electrics ;)

Also, I have read that you should drop the windows before disconnecting, mainly to avoid the possibility of damaging the glass if you happen to close the door with the battery disconnected, as it won't drop automatically

Thought did cross my mind. I need to dig back into the guide to see what was said in it

I just took my rear bumper for the same reason. I did not bother disconnecting the battery. I disconnected the lights to get the bumper off and after locking and unlocking car next day, got a turn signal failure warning, but that cleared when I connected them back up loose in the boot. I have been switching parking sensors about all day to figure which ones are bad. I have not had any issues.
At first my Autel could not read the module, then I unplugged the sensors and it worked. After replacing the sensors that were stopping the module from reading, my rear sensors now work fine, but curiously my front sensors are switched off according to the Autel AP200 and do not work at all. So I have ordered a couple more new ones and found a cheap parking sensors module on eBay as I still have a flashing odometer and the module had obviously been opened by someone before.

Just got my new (nos) module and it does not work at all. At least I had rear parking sensors with my old module, so back to drawing board… my assumption is that modules are configured for front and rear sensors and there are no proxi changes made if you only have rear sensors like the MC?

Useful info thanks. I'll keep an eye on mine once I have installed the single new one which has been identified on another persons Autel diag. If something starts playing up when I put the new one in I'll just have to stick the old one back in and accept a garage visit.
