Firstly, I should say that I'm very much a biker and not a car person. However, a recent sighting of a Granturismo has piqued my interest and it's been a bit like trying not to chew a fruit pastille. I'd pretty much decided that I had to have one. But a recent but very brief test drive has thrown a spanner in the works. I think the car's too small for me, I felt that my knees were up around my ears. This could have been partly due to me being a bit flustered, not being used to driving expensive cars, and the fact that the salesman seemed to be in a bit of a rush so it could have been that I'd not adjusted the seat properly but it did seem to be all the way back.

So, it could be my first and last post here. I'm not enormous, 6'3", I intend to pop along to a dedicated Maserati dealer at some point and have a more thorough try, in the meantime though, I'm hoping someone here can tell me I got it wrong.

Hi Mark and welcome...Hope you stick around.........Never felt the GT has been too small......But then I'm only 5'7"..........I would do as you say you will get out and test drive a few more and spend time making sure the car is for you...........Are you looking at a standard car or the 'S' version......Normal car is 4.2 the S is a 4.7 and brilliant.

Hi Andy, thanks. Definitely the S. As I've just been reading on some of the other threads it's "that button" that's an absolute must.

The S really is the car the standard GT should have been from the start........and yes the noise is just amazing............

Yep, if you can afford it, there really is no contest. Don't get me wrong, the GT is a great cruiser, but as you say, that SPORT button is worth it.

Mind you, the fuel consumption is pretty savage.

As for space, I find it a big car. I am 5,10" make sure you play with the seat, it goes in all directions, and remember the rake and hight adjuster on the left column.

Hi Mark, you definitely need to play with the seat adjustments next time. I'm 6ft and fit in very comfortably - just been out to sit in mine and measure head clearance (looked a bit of a fool in front the neighbours but they are used to it now!) and there is easy 4" clearance above head when seat is down and my legs are almost straight !
I've also driven with 4 6ft adults in the car - seated in comfort - granted not cat swinging comfort but fitted us all in.

From the test drives I did in the GTS I can't believe anyone less than 6'8" would have a problem. I'm 5'10" and when I got in one of the cars the seat had been motored all the way back, couldn't reach the wheel without stretching! Sounds like there may have been something wrong with the seat motors on the one you tried (or your tape measure is lying!); dont know if the GTS needs the seat memory resetting after the power has been off (the way a 4200/GS does) . Try the seat base angle and rake on the back, they make a lot of difference in positioning oneself.

Hi, and a big warm welcome to the forum...

Ditto!

By the way, Tipmethewink, I'm 6' and fit in mine very well and without the seat all the way back. We just had a family holiday in it - two adults, two teenagers and just shy of two thousand miles round France. It has plenty of space.

Chet's,
