But if you ever hear the buyers/sellers on classic car programmes, they always say originality is key. So muck about with loud exhausts, orange wheels (Adam!) and furry dice etc , but when you come to sell it, return it back to 'normal'. You'll get more interest and more money.

I'd agree with that, generally always go back to stock and sell the bits on afterwards.
