I can now add coil packs to the list of what it' s notMy daughter's relatively basic 500 had power loss and a 'christmas tree' on the dash yesterday, and the AA man fixed it with a new coil pack (which has apparently been upgraded from the original). If it's not been considered on yours it might be worth checking before spending too many £'s elsewhere.
So what codes are coming up on the diagnostic gear ?I can now add coil packs to the list of what it' s not
Spark plugs
Lambda sensor
Crank sensor
Coil packs
I don't know what to do with it, I can't sell it private as is because I wouldn't like that done to me
WBAC are offering peanuts for it
If I PX it the range rover will have to go and I REALLY like it
I'm reluctant to throw another £500 at it without a fix being guaranteed
No codes at all at the momentSo what codes are coming up on the diagnostic gear ?
Have you gone through live data ?
I had something similar years ago on an old Cavalier SRi 130. Took it to Vauxhall who plugged it in and said it was the airflow meter. Sealed part and £850 + VAT. Car was only worth twice that. So I thought screw let's crack the sucker open and see what is inside! No codes at all at the moment
The only codes that have ever come up are pre and post cat lambda but the general opinion is those sensors are the effect, not the cause
The 500s are known to have ECU problems so he did suggest either buying an ecu with the same numbers and swapping it or sending it off to be tested
I haven't looked at live data because I wouldn't know what to look for, it's so random when it does it
Tickover, normal driving, full power, you just don't know when it's going to do it, loss of power, eml on for 1-2 seconds then back to normal
That was what I did, the power cable in was loose! I had just had enough of it by then. Our Saxo power steering used to fail occasionally - daughters taught to whack the electric pump with a stick!
It's been on a snap on ultra with the same no codesI'm surprised it's not storing any temporary codes very strange indeed.
Maybe get it hooked up on different diagnostic gear.
Was the wee Abarth remapped? Mine had 230 bhp and no issues in 2 1/2 years of ownership. Perhaps they have had fingers in places they shouldn't if it has been. It's been on a snap on ultra with the same no codes
The abarth specialist has scanned it with what I assume was dealer level diagnostics, no codes stored
I really was hoping it would break down
It didn't do it on the 220 miles drive home, a few days later I had the cambelt changed and the forge induction kit put back to standard but again opinion is if it was a timing issue it wouldn't be so random
It has been mapped but he took the map off and it was still the sameWas the wee Abarth remapped? Mine had 230 bhp and no issues in 2 1/2 years of ownership. Perhaps they have had fingers in places they shouldn't if it has been.
