OK now I have your attention
Last year Marcos [Lewis] and I helped to raise £8000 for the Stroke Association at Castle Combe last year, for which we thank all who helped and attended.
For those of you were not involved last year but would like to take part this year please check out the website www.stroke.org.uk/supercarsaturday. The event will be on Saturday the 23rd of October.
I am looking for willing track day heros and their cars to take part by providing a Track Ride in your car to the public who in turn will pay the charity for the thrill...this event can only be a sucess if drivers and cars are available.
This years event will be broadly similar to last but with some new initiatives to excite the public and tempt them to get involved and donate, as follows:
So, please get in touch and confirm if you can help this year to. richard_c_jones@hotmail.com
thank you.
But you're not off the hook yet, oh no. As you're probably aware, the Stroke Association has no budget to advertise the event; we depend entirely on word of mouth and the efforts of everyone involved to promote the day. Lots of folks have already been busy designing a poster, sending out invitations to past attendees, getting STAR Radio on-board, organising raffles for rides and even parking their race car in a shopping centre (that'll be the one with the trolley dents then) to get people interested. So please, taking part this year or not, tell every petrolhead you know about the event. Admission to the public is still just £5, there will be rides from only £20 and the Autosolo will be around £29 to enter (includes MSA insurance and club membership). Here's what you can do:
Go through the names on your mobile phone and send everyone who might be interested a text
Ditto for your email contact list
Post it on your Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace or whatever social network(s) you belong to
Poster will be supplied shortly by email - print some out and put them where you know petrolheads will see them
Post on as many forums as you can - I did so many on petrolheads.com last year I was thrown out for 48 hours
You get the picture - people through the gate is where the donations come from.
Looking forward to a terrific Supercar Saturday on the 23rd of October and thanks in advance for all your efforts and contribution to the event.
Best Regards
Richard Jones

- Track rides in Race cars, modern Supercars and Classics
- A novice Autosolo to be run by Bristol Motor Club - drive your own car and become a motosport competitor for the first time
- Motor Clubs from several national and regional groups
- A photography club who will be looking to capture the event on, er, pixels I suppose?
- LIVE radio
