Free Geometry Health Check and Technical Workshop
Hi guys, I'm a regular over at Club Scuderia and thought you might be interested in a meet I'm arranging.... www.clubscuderia.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=39076 ...
I am organising a meet at Wheels in Motion (WIM) located in Chesham. I have known one of the owners, Tony Bones, for a number of years after he helped fix a car of mine that the dealer was stumped on for weeks. Tony is regarded as one of the leading authorities in the UK when it comes to setting up car geometry. As well as a proven track record in setting up race and track cars he has also developed custom chassis setting for road cars that overcome shortfalls in the manufacturers settings. WIM also have contracts with several big names, including Aston Martin and Lotus. The WIM workshop is kitted out with the best equipment available, including the Hunter Hawkeye 811 (as used at the Ferrari factory in Marenello). Although it is a fairly long way for me, I wouldn't consider taking my car anywhere else for this type of work.
Date: Sunday 26 September 2010
Time: 10am to 4pm
Where: Wheels in Motion, Chesham, Bucks, HP5 1SD ( www.blackboots.co.uk )
What's Happening on the Day:
Tony and the WIM team have kindly offered to host a day at their premises. They will provide food and drink (and possibly doughnuts!) but the main attraction will be the use of the workshop. Tony will be providing free geometry health checks - your car will be put on the Hunter machine and all angles checked - Tony will talk you through the settings and how they effect the handling. We think it is possible to get about 25 cars up on the ramps for a check during the day.
If you don't fancy a geometry health check then there are other lifts in the workshop that can be used to make a visual inspection to the underside of your pride and joy.
WIM also sponsor several race cars and they aim to be there if they're not competing.
I think this will be a fantastic opportunity to meet up with fellow enthusiasts at the tail end of the summer season (before some of us wrap their cars up in the carcoon for the winter). The workshop is located on a small industrial estate that is otherwise closed on a Sunday, making it perfect for a meet with spaces for up to 200 cars.
We'd like to limit participation to Ferrari/Lamborghini/Maserati marques but if you have something equally exciting/exotic that you'd like to bring then let me know and I'll see what can be done.
I know how much you guys like a list, so I've started two. The first is for cars that would like to have the geometry check, the second for those who would just like to attend on the day. The geometry list will be first come, first served and limited to 25 cars only. Please cut and paste your name and car in.
Geometry guests (limited to 25)
