I believe it is the same Bianco Fuji GS doing burnouts in the youtube video I posted on the forum. Looks like a front end collision.

Anything you recommend I should jump on?

I'd recommend a trampoline! (sorry, I'll get me coat)

The ECU.
GSM/GPS module.
The shocks
Brake discs if they're in good nick.
Window lifter mechanisms and window glass.
The cat sections (in case you need to go back to standard)
The wheels.

Probably a good few other bits and pieces worth having, but all assume getting them at a good price.

I've got about 42,000 km on my GS...so please brainstorm any obvious/pricey replacement bits (brake disks was a good one!)

anything else?

How much would you offer for used parts?

Half of retail price?

Hi JP, You have a PM. I'd go in well below half price, but check out Eurospares etc to see what the replacement value is so you know what the haggle factor is.

Matt and Loz will know far better than I, but the GS is the last incarnation, and pretty sorted mechanically, so there aren't that many suspect parts that I'm aware of, so it's a case of do you want to bag a bargain and sell it on, or just get some bits for a possibly expensive rainy day?

Cheers, Miles.

Thanks Miles.

One of my wiper blades/brushes has come apart, so this is an obvious one to replace. My question is are these blade sizes standard or can only be sourced from Maserati? (please forgive what might be a silly question!)

Also, my driver side seat belt actuator is "lazy" and often needs assistance to return...is this common? Should I get it replaced or are they all like that?

If this is indeed the burnout car, it had a carbon fibre bootlid spoiler... which I will most certainly jump on! Also hoping it has the door panels and side sills in carbon too :)

I've informed Buster67 about the car and we're gonna share the wealth and head over together (we'll try to convert his Coupe into a manual GS!)

Matt/Loz, please feel free to chime in with your wisdom!

Well I guess if you drive a car like this...

or like this...

Then no surprise this could be the end result...

JP and I visited the breaker GS this afternoon and despite the wreck we were presented with, it was a worthwhile visit and has pushed me further down the manual GT to a manual GS conversion look... more to follow in a separate thread.

And yes it was the same car from the videos - although the damage apparently occurred in a somewhat more stationary position.

:baffle:

Thanks JP for the find and your help with the negotiations in Arabic!

I will have the Maserati badge on the bootlid, nail it to my bedroom door, no better still, nail it to the mantle piece, my mum will be so happy with that.

Secondhand brakes discs not recommended, no brake parts are in reality.

Grab the parts you've read about that do fail or are known to be weak......

Cats
Reverse gear mechanism
Seat electric motors
All other engine ancilliaries
Wiper mechanisms
F1 pump
Gearbox, torque tube
Suspension arms, front, rear, assuming no obvious wear
Various ECUs

You're right Andy on the fact there's not much left... but here's where I'm going with it..

I've already received damage to the front of my GT - fortunately just the bumper and undershield section; it's beyond repair and so the insurance is paying out for a new GS front ordered from Eurospares plus fitting, finishing, painting etc.

With the help of JP, I've secured the side skirts, four 19" rims incl. tyres and the wheels being refurbished plus mercury colour. I'm also taking the left hand window lift mechanism (currently on the never never production date and I need!) and the steering wheel intact with airbag. All of this for about £1,250 and I exchange back the respective parts coming off my car. The tyres are in very good condition and quite obviously not the ones on the car during the burnout.

Concerns? Are the wheels round? Does the window lift work? Is the airbag intact? So far no money has been exchanged - wheel alignment, balancing etc will be done and the steering wheel he's suggested I go to the dealer for exchange and fitting.

So whilst this wasn't a planned conversion, I'm left with the opportunity (I believe at a reasonable cost), plus fitting, spray up etc and my biggest outlay to be a new rear GS bumper.

JP's looking to take the carbon spoiler plus other bits and I will take his old spoiler if it all works out.

Comments, pointers greatly welcomed..

Thank you...

Excellent. A manual GS would be interesting.

Such a shame a BF GS has ended up like that - that there is the Holy Grail to me!
