You can hear the crowd cheering on every corner and straight....7th again.....This is brilliant and an even louder cheer. Brilliant.....Mercedes next year....I would take a change and take that bet.

What a lap from Lewis...Well deserved pole....He would have quicker if he did get the back end out of the last lap....Looked spectacular.....And Russel 8th....Great evening for the British drivers. Sprint race tomorrow I am very much looking forward to.

Just caught up. That’s awesome, and Lando in 6th. Lewis does know how to get round Silverstone.

Can’t really work out just how good George is as I get the feeling the Canadian chap is just there to keep the seat warm.

George is a class act, as he demonstrated last year in the Merc, the team took that win away from him... Did they do it on purpose?... I have my own thoughts on that but you decide...

I didn’t mean “can’t work out if he is good”, he’s definitely good, just how good??His team mate isn’t really a comparison.

I don’t think they took it from him. They made a mistake. I think it’s the thing that wins Lewis championships, it’s not his speed it’s just somehow when he’s around mistakes aren’t made.

Yep, go figure that out, what happened wasn't a mistake it was a downright catastrophe of a scale that one could only do on purpose.... Or should we normally expect the Merc team pitstops to resemble a monkey fu37ing a football?

It’s not a first. Remember when Schumacher broke his leg and Irvine was looking like he was going to win a World Championship and then Ferrari forgot one of his wheels in a pit stop.

What a waste of 30 minutes of my life. Am I watching F3 but with no overtaking?

Well done to Alonso for providing a smattering of entertainment - always remember - FiFTY - but only until you have more race pace than the Alpine

Russel has a three place grid penalty for his coming together with Sainz. Seems harsh looking at the touch. They certainly know how to take the excitement out of today’s race….

The Russell penalty is a wee bit pathetic.
It is killing F1.

I'll wager Bottas cant wait for his tenure to release him from Mercedes.

What I find rather stupid is the notion that with a whole team, transported and ensconced in garages in pit lane; after only an hour of practice, the cars are all left in park ferme trim..
This surely means the majority of these highly trained engineers, with their oodles of data capture and digest know-how have nothing left to do but change tyres, and twiddle their thumbs all weekend..
Talk about shooting the sport in the foot...:yeah:
