Nob jokes is fine ;) Based in Loughton Milton Keynes, she'll be here for a couple of days to check the simple stuff , should anything more major be suspect then , it will 100% be engine out when i could need a hand and then on a pallet to one of our well known specialist.

Would it not be cheaper and easier to swap the engine for a good used lump?
Hopefully it can be a simple fix, Although if it has indeed ingested water then I can imagine bent con rods.

This isolation malarkey that Boris is on about, does it include all of us popping round, giving our opinion, sucking on our teeth, and cluttering up your garage with extra tea mugs?
Oh and nob jokes...

Its not worth coming Phil unless you have a repatoir of atleast 10 nob jokes off pat without a script , cant stand it when people screw up the punchlines

Bluntly the answer is a NO No No No not on this car ....................any other catergorised Masser then i wouldnt have an issue with that , but this one is kinda special and it will stay 100% original and keep original numbers end of

So the answer could be yes but your heart is saying no?
I really hope it does turn out to be a simple fix but please keep an open mind if isn’t.
I’ve seen irreparable damage on flood damaged cars, i.e the conrods impacted the bores.

Over on ML the prevailing wisdom is to replace the lump. However, I am with you, I would do everything possible to keep the original engine. I know I am in the minority on this, but I do believe that 4200's will be valuable some day. (maybe 150 yrs?). With so many internal parts interchangeable with Ferraris, wet liners etc. I see no reason other than a perforated block not to rebuild. Of course with used long blocks so cheap, replace, and rebuild orig. and set it aside. Just 2 cents worth......

Well the white ball is spinning when it drops on either 5 or 23 red we will have the answer and make the diagnosis and subsequent senopsis accordingly,

Without doubt the easiest and quickest solution would be to exchange a lump for x £s but ...( a true unknown quantity ) and all that, why would i do that for a keeper , this is very close to the perfect car what ( sparkles ) about it , is the low mileage and stunning conditon , and an interior to die for ( thats in the eyes of this beholder ) so for the sake of a few greasy hands , a bit of parts seaching/buying and probably a few extra quid it will keep it as best original . Thats my train of thought , ...........................................and the fact it might entertain a few on here at the same time will be a bonus.#

Am i mad...............or going over the top

If its the dark side and my name is mentioned Lol any route i take would be deemed as the wrong way , probably me and one or two others crossed swords a while ago , but agreed there is probably plenty of wise wisdom there, for due consideration, but and a big but no nob jokes

Just wanted to point out that my Chancellor Rishi Sunak, has today announced that “This government will give you all the tools you need to get through this”

Spanner’s, ratchets, hammers, 2x4, pliers -all fall within these guidelines.

Additionally, having researched the cost replacement of Maserati parts we would like to point out that Government-backed loans worth £330bn are available to you.

God speed, your country needs you.

I’m with you on the originality factor and for me it would depend on the place where and rebuild would take place and by cost.
All I’m saying is keep an open mind and I’ll keep me fingers crossed for you.

Exactly thats why the ball is still spinning , if it lands on black then we cross that bridge as and when

This is the great thing about SM, we not only understand the excitement, but share in it too. 3000 miles away and I am living vicariously your big moment. " The sweet agony of expectation......."

Panic well, and truly over , Transporter is 2.5 hours away , decided ( because its raining here) to take the car to Days Alfa Milton Keynes , owner Dave is a good friend with a lovely pucker workshop complete with a few classic alfa's in tow , Tomorrow we will get to grips with the checks , ( full battery re charge) drain the oil check for metal /filings then start with trying to turn her over by the crank , plugs are already out , if she moves then compression tests and check the piston depths with a calibrated gauge will be the way forward followed by an endiscope search in each bore. By that stage we will have a good idea of what we will be dealing with one hopes

Probably be dark by the time it arrives tonight , but if pics are possible i will post some
