Flat Tyre Precautions for the GT

So I had an unfortunate incident where the tyre wall on my GT blew out.

Wheel couldn't be saved. Had to get the car put on a flat bed truck and delivered to my Specialist for wheel change.

My question is, given there's no spare in the GranTurismo, what's the best product to have in the boot to at least get the tyre inflated again?

Heard there's some sort of goo can you can buy that will inflate the tyre temporarily - and yes - understood there's no fix for a blown tyre wall besides a tyre change.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you not round the BBQ opening presents?

I had the same with a pothole which led to a lorry recovery, 32psi to zero in ten minutes.

Holts make a can of foam which could be worth carrying but I'm not sure how effective it would be. The can of
foam in my TT is out of date and they always try and sell me a new one every time it is in for a service.

If you lose the sidewall, you're toast whatever you have in the boot, unless it's a spare.

I've had great success with Slime in bike tyres. You fit it in advance and it seals punctures as they happen.

Currently I'm relying on a tin of

and an AA card

Don't like the idea of 'seal as they happen', other than regular inspection, you could end up with a nail on the inside outer edge of a tyre and not know about it.

I have a kit like this which got me out of trouble in my trip to Italy last year
Have one in al my cars now -

I have the same, carry over from trips into Europe when I had my Elise. Never used, but better than nothing.

You could. If I may ask, when was the last time this happened to anyone you know?

If you lost the sidewall and the wheel was shot, as someone else noted your only option is recovery.

On mine, the tyre "survived" but the wheel buckled. Same deal. Recovery and now arguments with the council.

My GTS has the Maserati tyre inflator with an integrated foam filler.

You flick a switch and instead of pumping air it pumps the foam in.

Or the best thing to do is to carry 6 forum members around with you so that 5 of them can stand around to tell you how ****** you are and 1 to actually plug your tyre when you have a puncture.
