@Nayf is a great author, his articles always make great reading so it will be worth your pennies (although most of you reprobates clearly don't know good value when it hits you in the face as you own money pits :p).

I'm guessing cost savings. The 3200 had such high quality leather trimming and other components I'd be surprised if they made a profit on any of them!

You're all wrong. The real reason was the bloody Australians, who cited cultural misappropriation of an iconic hunting device. In an early example of pointless wokery they got all pissy and demanded that the Italians say sorry and throw all unsold sets of lights in the nearest pond.

Probably one of the reasons we wanted one after seeing them in Lymington; had to make do with the 4200 Spyder instead.

The 3200's boomerangs is *absolutely* the single thing that got me into Maseratis. I recall seeing one (pretty sure it was yellow) as we walked to Kew Gardens one day. When I actually started looking, I bottled it and went for a 4200 instead :(

Something along the lines of he had to assert his design authority when he arrived at the Company and told them look at those lights they're terrible but he actually did like them and they took him seriously enough ...

I suppose we will have to go and buy it now to find out!!
He did an interview on YouTube about it where he simply said his "boss" told him to have the boomerangs changed despite all his objections. Which doesn't really give much away on the actual "why?", perhaps he let more slip in the magazine interview.

His Boss told him to do it, to show Italdesign that Maserati they were in charge of design, Frank preferred the boomerang design, but had to do as he was told.
