Ferrari - is it just me?

Personally I prefer front engined Ferraris, few of the mid engine cars have really done it for me. Also supercars have just gone too far both in terms of performance and price, do you really need 700BHP on the road? My Spyder was just shy of 400BHP and that was more than enough to threaten my attachment to my driving license.

I grew up with walls covered in red cars. 348, 355, Testarossa and of course the F40.
I used to always be the opposite, preferring the smaller, mid engined Ferrari, but as others have said, they peaked with the 355, when they started to grow, things got worse.

I do like the 458, but the 360 and even 430 look off to me.
The more modern front engined cars have some lovely lines too, and the FF, and GTC4 Lusso are fantastic looking things, dare to be different etc.

As others have said, other super car manufacturers I don't think have it right at all. I'm looking at you in particular McLaren. I'm sure they are technically fantastic cars, but they leave me cold. When they first came out, they had no identity, and now it seems to me that they simply have no identifying features, bland and dull low slung things.
Lamborghini on the other hand have managed well to retain their identity, and crazy looking designs without going the way of Ferrari with new models every couple of years (beyond the usual Lambo bolt-on specials of course)

I think the 575m is a beautiful looking car especially head on it the built in spoiler on the boot.

Just need to take the plunge as been looking at them a while along with the 612.

I own a Z3M and so for me the ultimate would be an FF but currently out of my budget as a daily.

It’s a case of picking the right colour/spec, and then choosing the right day/event for that particular car. Of the more recent models, I’d happily have a 458, FF or Portofino, in grey, blue or green, with a tan interior.
There is a 458 spider Ewan on AT Green with Tan Interior. Truly unique. I saw it and thought of you

After more than a century of car design it must be getting harder for any manufacturer to please the crowd as it’s all been done before, and stylists are no doubt constrained by the engineering requirements, especially when they have to clothe 600+bhp with all the attendant technologies.

I don’t dislike the current range of Ferraris but I’m not sure they’d be at the top of my shopping list. McLarens are usually understated on the front end but quite dramatic at the back, Lamborghinis would be nothing without their geometric angles, and so it goes.

Further down the scale the retro look has been quite successful as nostalgia appeals (Mini, Beetle, Fiat, etc), so wouldn’t it be nice to see some retro sports cars? Just imagine if Ferrari had a modern day 250 Testa Rossa or GTO, or Maserati had a 450 or A6GCS in the range; it may be nice to have the bragging rights of a Superfast but I know which I’d rather have, lottery permitting of course.

Well I'd have an F-430 Spyder in Tdf Blue, and id be wearing a cap. To protect my napper.
For what it's worth i would have a 599/F12 as well.
It's funny, in a Ferrari you're e knob, in an MG BGT you're just cool.

If I saw someone in an MG BGT I would be thinking real ale, flat cap and someone who had twigs in their beard....Not cool for me I'm afraid.

The problem is people get obessesed with the F badge and actually don't take a step back and think ooh that actually looks rather bland. Some of the recent F cars have been really boring and just lazy design including the Tributo. For me the Lambo wins on looks and just about everything because it is the leftfield choice.

Ok, E Type Jag, Lotus something or another, was probably a poor analogy to start with.

That is stunning!

Meridien have one in Verdi Extra Campionari but it's wrapped in Rosso.
Can't find any pics of it in it's original colour.

Less I'm mistaken, You have to wear yellow or pink jumpers with red trousers to be allowed to drive those things :D

The Lambo seems attractive until you do a finance quote on one and then you wonder how they sell any to sensible people vs a Ferrari.

Al, I know people who buy these sort of cars for cash, keep them for 6 months or so have a bit of fun then move them on
They don't waste money doing finance deals with brokers!

As has been discussed at length - sticking lots of money into a depreciating asset is not a smart move. It’s not about being able to afford it /APR rates etc - it’s just how much you lose on changing that’s important. Whether that lump comes out of the deposit or the whole cash purchase is immaterial. I love my cars but there comes a point when it’s just silly.
Ferrari is the only marque seems to hold its money (if you get the model/age right) . When the manufacturers can’t have confidence in the residuals- how can the customer. Residuals on Lamborghinis are horrendous. I have to say I was impressed with the Aston Residuals when I was looking at them for the first time.

I'm not sure many who buy these cars are worries about depreciation. It is filling up from the top faster than peeking out the bottom so not an issue many worry about.

Oh to be that person one day and not to worry about depreciation!

When your a footballer earning 500k per week I'm not sure depreciation is a worry.

For all 3 of them in the U.K. I sure it’s not.
For anyone who actually earns their own money and appreciates the value of it- I think it is.
I could easily change my car now as I have another itch to scratch- but I can’t face giving the car salesmen I have spoken to a 5-10k haircut at both ends. RG however. I would pay for the priviledge :)

I absolutely love the colour. However, I think if I were chucking that kind of money on the car I would 100% have the steering wheel re-trimmed to black. And probably the dash as well.
And have the seat belts in black.

With that done it's perfect!
