Ferrari - is it just me?

So have owned a fezza and would do so again - but where do others stand in the Ferrari design language post Pinanfarina?

Is it just me getting bored by the same front end lookon every car? It’s not got as a bad as Porsche, but I don’t know, each new model doesn’t seem quite as exciting visually.....(although they are to drive!).....what do you think?

I think modern Ferraris are cluttered looking, but they are just following the trend, most other competitors have similar styling. I'm sure it will go full circle when curves are in at some point, but it will be market forces and whats in fashion. They can sell people anything, just look at the number of white cars on the road, at one point you couldn't give a white car away!

Have to agree, it's not just Ferraris though, it's got to a point where to differentiate between the latest and greatest you would have had to have designed it yourself, such subtle differences between them. Then again trying to differentiate the latest model from the rest can backfire a bit, a la mahoosive extra bits stuck onto a gransport

I'm not in a position to buy a new Ferarri, but even if I was I couldn't put my money in them. They leave me cold. Capable and sound great, but they are no longer poster cars in my eyes and only get a second look due to scarcity in Bristol. I grew up with Diablo and 355s on my walls, in my opinion the 430 was the last Ferarri I'd have.

The same can be said for most super and hypercar brands I guess, most new models dont excite me like the more characterful older models, thankfully.

Last beautiful Ferrari for me was the 355.......Modern ones are just over styled for me. The only one I would consider is the FF.....The others do not move me at all.

Had an FF - great car and practical- but a looker? I am strangely drawn to the 612 and the 599 also does something for me - but that’s about the latest for me! Perhaps it’s an age thing...

It is an age thing. There’s nothing sadder than an old boy in a F car. Especially if he’s wearing a cap.
Well I'd have an F-430 Spyder in Tdf Blue, and id be wearing a cap. To protect my napper.
For what it's worth i would have a 599/F12 as well.
It's funny, in a Ferrari you're e knob, in an MG BGT you're just cool.

It’s a case of picking the right colour/spec, and then choosing the right day/event for that particular car. Of the more recent models, I’d happily have a 458, FF or Portofino, in grey, blue or green, with a tan interior.

I think Ferraris have become engineered rather than designed. There's an interesting interview in this month's Car Mag with the head of design at Ferrari in which it is clear that they have to work to what the engineers want particularly around airflow.

I saw a Portofino at the weekend and wasn't blown away by it. I think the F12 looks good but the 812 is too much.

Part of the problem for me is they seem to bring out a new model every 6 months. I can't keep up, or identify a Ferrari on the street. I prefer a marque that just comes up with a new model every 15 years or so....

Ferrari are trying to balance the very fine line of style and substance.

McLaren (IMHO) have failed completely. Their cars may be awesome to drive but to look at they are completely dull.

As has been said previously, the last beautiful, and probably one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever, was the 355.

Although I do like the F430, and the 458. I think the lines on both work very well. Where the 458 goes to the 488 I think the 488 is just too big.
And high and wide.
Undoubtedly it's a brilliant piece of engineering, but I think emissions and the use of turbo's has kinda killed all supercars.

As for the rest of the current range, the 812 Superfast is quite nice, having seen one in the flesh. But how much £££???
The PF only looks good in certain colours.

It's probably blasphemous to say this, but I'm currently looking into getting an FF.. & selling the GT.
It's the V12 Ferrari scream that's hard to resist.. oh and if I can get golf clubs in the back!

What colour did you have?

The cars have all become a bit too much of an advertisement, they just seem a caricature of a Ferrari. Take the latest SF90, someone with a media degree has decided Ferrari SpA is 90 years old, despite Enzo the guy who founded it thinking it started in 1947, hence the F40. Yes I know he had companies pre war but it’s just a load of cobblers.

I think as you get older, you're eye appreciates the classic designs more. The F355 will always be one of the best lookers, but the current cars have something too. I think you have to be careful with colour choice but there are some superb cars out there if done well. Look at this for example.
