Just ordered these from a website, I did call the guy, he said it was cheaper to order online rather than over the phone

4 x FK452 tyres, 2 front, 2 rear, delivered, £440inc, sizes 235/40/18 and 265/35/18, fronts worked out at £98 each plus delivery

Spent all morning trying to get Vredesteins to no avail

I have on a couple of cars, Falkens are one of the best non-prestige brands, on a par with Avon, Goodyear etc IMHO

I bought a full set of these for my Alfa GT recently as I'd heard good things both here and elsewhere about them. Swapped out from Pirelli P-Zeros which I thought were rubbish. I must say that in about 2k miles of driving they're really very good. Great grip in dry, wet and snow so far. They seem a little noisy on some road surfaces, but I'm led to believe that's more to do with the car than the tyres. I didn't have the Pirellis on for long after buying the car and recall they were noisy too.

If I'm buying online I will usually use www.camskill.co.uk They couldn't deliver the best price for me on Falkens, that fell to Black Circles - once I'd found out who the fitting depot were i called them and negotiated from there.

I did a bit of investigation as well - P Zeros where just too dear when I needed 4, a few people on this forum have recommended Falkens, camskill just came up as £426 all in for 4 Falkens - b****r! still nevermind will deduct it from the wifes housekeeping!

I have 452's on my GS and they will also be going on the GT in about a months time. Great tyre, bags of grip in the dry, no good on a track, but how often do you do that?

They are also lasting longer than most tyres so am really impressed.

The major difference is the fact that the Falk452's dont have a reinforced side wall, like the P-Zeros, which is probably why they are not so good on a wet track, but this has an advantage also. If you hit a pothole in the GS in sport with P-Zeros on, it will A. make your teeth fall out and B. split the tyre by putting the reinforcement through the top of the tyre. Its happened to me twice and I know at least once to Loz with the Vredesteins (high speed blow out in France after hitting a pothole in MK on the way down).

Tyres arrived today so a good delivery service with email and text notifications - the wife has had them fitted, then said she had to use it for work, as not enough time to go home and use her car, fortunately she is not a taxi driver!
4 wheel alignment check booked for Saturday - then I might just see what happens with the loud pedal when you push it.

Heard good things about them but could not get a matching set front and rear - bit dearer to (not much about £100 more for the set)

Only reasonable conclusion Frank , tyres were in bloody good nick before hand , only 1 year old and 7K miles on, still had 5mm on the rears Vredsteins are renowned for hard wearing on the road and excellent wet and dry grip , as Mat said i hit a pothole on the M25 roadworks at 80 mph hard thud shsss it was a fifty limit but i was latish and enjoying myself , can only think that caused a problem because the tyre shredded virtually half way round its circumference after 3hrs driving in France Oh well lets move on and put it down to experience

Interested to see how you get on with Falken's - mine dont need doing just yet, but suspect they will do before the summer. Falken's are a great price and seem to be a popular choice.

Woody , the 452's are a good comparrison to the Vredsteins, not a lot in it with the performance ratings with Vreds just taking the top spot and kicking into touch the likes of the bigger makers, Vreds are generally 20% dearer over the 452 taking into account 19" for the GS , extremely good value and of course the vanity value of having Guigaro stamped all over them , and if your really vain you can pick that out in white :D

OK, thanks. I'd be interested to know who you use and what the end product is like when you have them done.

Cheers

Loz, what are you going to do about the centre caps when you gloss black them?

Just an update on the Falken 452's and I must say with the tracking checked by a Hyunter machine (only minor tweek required) The car feels planted with plenty of grip in all weathers, wet and dry. Not sure what they would be like on a track - but as I dont intend to do that its not really relevant. As 4 new tyres fitted worked out cheaper than the e36 BMW, I must say I am very pleased.

My car came with 452's and I have pretty much used it daily for the last year through ice, snow, rain and dry conditions. I have recently replaced the rears with the same again.
