Hi guys i know more questions,

i have been chatting to someone selling the above privately, it all looks good, and good history, the chap has been very honest, it has a parking scrape, a couple of marks on the bumper, and a 10P size mark on front edge of front wing, minimal damage, bumper may polish out, and small paint missing could be sprayed, this is all the same damadged area.

It has the std seat bolster wear, slight wear on drivers seat base, and slight wear on passenger bolster, but looks really good apart from that. Full service history, done annually as well as mileage, cambiocorsa model, nice colour combo. less than 40K on clock.

question is is it worth £17500 even with the damage and upholstery needing a tidy up. It looks pretty mint and well maintaned, and from a bit of reasearch it looked like it came from Nuvolo a few years back, and there cars look perfect.

thanks Kev.

it goes without saying i have not viewed this yet, just wanted to get a feeling for if it was worth it as its £1500 more than the immaculate 52 plate i am also looking at. And if i liked it i would get the obvious inspection done.

Colour combo?
Id say get some money off, cant be more than £500 to sort it and then once you agree a price get an inspection

I dont like to put a price on other peoples possesions.....based on GS prices id say its not worth more than 16k....

The asking price sounds right to me ... and the miles are under 40k ..... Well worth a look. You see some non face lift close to this price. Knowing what you are looking at this has got to be worth a look.....Price is good I think.

I'd rather have the grey GS that's available for 18k but overall i'd say that's a decent price to start negotiations on the 4200

40K miles brings it into new clutch territory. Is it a manual or a CC? If the latter, what's the clutch wear reading?

ETA: Just noticed it's a CC. So, I'd definitely want to know about the clutch condition.

That seems slightly high for a 55 plate, even though it's a facelift with reasonable mileage. I would offer a bit less, as it has some minor issues also..!!
If it does need a clutch, that's £1500 ballpark..!!

it has just had the clutch tyres and brakes done, but it needs a small interior repair, i have had a couple of quotes with the most expensive one being £450. And a slight parking repair probably £250. It has no tax, has not been driven much in the last 6 months. But it looks lovely apart from this I am going to see this and a 52 plate with 28K on the clock for £15995, the asking price on this facelift was £20500, i knocked them down to £17500 so icant see them reducing it any more even though we all think its a bit expensive.

On a side not a saw a gransport today with just under 60K Full history, just had major service, brakes clutch and heater matrix and a few other bits, also needs interior sorting, for slightly more money. I am very tempted, but worry about selling it in a couple of years with say 65-70K on it.

cheers Kev.

Kev,

You might be better having a look at the 2 x 04 cars with circa 40k miles that Nuvola have for sale atm. at least you know they will be well sorted.
Just to throw it into the mix.

Gus.

Hi Gus,

there cars do look very very nice, but i think the one with 28K that i am looking at tomorrow will hopefully be better!! I love the white spyder he has there though, I would be very tempted, apart from it being a 51 plate.

Good luck with the search.
I have a 55 facelift which I have to say really is excellent.
Whichever one you end up with I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy it.

One thing to check on them is the oil tank pipe. It's not that easy to get to, but, if you undo a few bolts from the undertray at the drivers side along with the 3 screws in the wheelarch you should be able to drop the undertray down enough to see the nut. Do a search on here as it's been well posted.
The aluminium nut on the end tends to split and it's a big job to change. ( personal experience )

Kev,
The facelift 4200 is very close to a GS, not quite the same but close, something to consider when looking..!! A facelift 4200 for £20k would have to be immaculate, if it is not it's not worth it..!!
Cheers

Robs right at 20k it needs to be perfect out of the box....17.5k sounds more realistic...

Kev

I bought my 2006 facelift last summer and paid around the 20k mark as the car is pristine and mileage only at 22k. I looked at some cheaper cars but all had issues, especially a Nettuno Blu I saw in Newcastle which if I remember rightly the dealer was asking around 18k for - fortunately I had it inspected and it was a dog, so I'm very happy I spent a little more for a pretty much perfect car..

Parisien,

That's what I thought, due to the colour, but apparently it is aluminium.

Engineered obsolescence. When it corrodes/breaks, which it will, you have to buy a new one and spend a lot of time and/or money to replace.
