Anyone know who's best regards price/cover. It's £66 extra with RAC but only £35 with Greenflag, AA want £140! Is there anyone out there who's researched it in detail? Going for 17 days, bring it on!

I go with the AA on a trip by trip basis. Le Mans 5 days costs about £35 and seeing as my clutch exploded last year, worth every penny. They trailered the car back from central France all the way to Meridien in the New Forest...via Dover!

Dont make the same mistake I did and think I was covered by my standard UK policy, you'll get a shock.

Another vote for quotelinedirect - they are part of a big insurance type business where they repatriate people from all over the place - my wife used to work there. Cheap as chips.

Not wholly sure I'm voting for them, just they may have been the most competitive.......however, they do state they might want view of a service history of the car to prove it was in good condition before it left the UK....do read through it!

I have a yearly one from the AA multi trip all the trimmings and extra breakdown cover , that gives you £500 towards the repair costs and all the repat bits and loss of hotels bookings etc and car hire , its dear but i have never heard of them welshing on a deal once they have taken your money , uk service is 2nd to none

Loz that Clutch still not gone pop yet?

Ha ha keep at it

Was hoping it would finally go on the journey , but NO still driving fine , with only very minimal slip occasionally , Peter had very minor probs with air con blockage draining into the passenger footwell , with a 4 of us there it was soon sorted , and Roger had a slight overheating light on the temp gauge once (you know what le Mans traffic jams can be like ) but as long as the car was moving all was well , possibly thermosat probs as there was slight expansion in the header tank with just a little pressure , again minor issues and nothing to worry about

My GS will be going in soon as now for brakes and clutch , so time to bite the bullet and shell out the hard earned , think ive had my monies worth , and i can finally save some weight in the boot been carrying that new and flywheel and bearing clutch around for far tooooooo long

I see...............bizarre it lasted so long after being......"completely" worn.................it didn't let you down and you've paid up front for the bits well in advance so less of a hit when getting it done....:)

I get stand alone cover from my insurer (A-plan) for £75 UK + Europrean + home start, can't remember who actually somes to get me. I can also swap it to the car we go to europe with, either Alfa or Maserati.

Loosk similar to this - less than £70

I bought my European cover yesterday. Checked a load of companies and decided to go with an annual UK policy which covers me for 60 days per year in Europe - more than enough.
This company: https://www.greeninsurancecompany.co.uk/breakdownbol/ I took out the Euro Recovery option. At £52 for the year including Home start, recovery and forward recovery to intended destination it was without doubt the best deal I'd been thinking about breakdown cover in the UK for a while & this made me do it.
Driving to Barcelona at the weekend, Mediterranean cruise for a week followed by a week in my villa in Spain. Drive home and then have to jump on a flight the following morning to New York for 5 days, sadly work with perhaps some fun thrown in!

Like Maf im looking to renew in a couple of months , presently with the AA annual european breakdown with added extra breakdown, its dear at £140 , had occasion to use it last year after a blow out in france , Unfortunately a new tyre wasn't available for 36 hours so a repatriatrion was necessary, every thing was very efficient and 6 hours later we were back in MK along with the car , couldn't fault the service , very commendable , happy to stay with them altho i would like to save a few quid is poss , but i would kick myself if for the sake of saving £50 we had a disaster if we needed the service again
