GTS (Auto or MC) is a 0-100 mph in 11.? seconds. Enough for me. There are faster cars out there, always will be. Want speed buy an Impreza and mod it to high heaven.

I went in a GTR last week and my friend conceded driving around London he is never going to blast it to achieve the true potential. In the real world and if your license means anything to you isn't 4.8 to 60 fast enough for you???? Even if you were racing a 599 you would be hard put to see the difference in just a 0 to 60 drag race. You would need to do a drag race to 100mph to really see any worthwhile difference. On paper the Ferrari612 is 4.2 secs to 60. When Dan's car was put into a drag race the 612 and GTS were virtually neck and neck. The question is how do these cars make you feel and I know that despite the vast power from the Nissan GTR, more smiles will be achieved from a Maserati or Ferrari

There we have it Peter.......how will any replacement car make you feel?

Can you bond with it, love it, enthuse over it?

The GTR Datsun "Transformer" to me aint that type of car.....it has one function only.....out and out speed.

The Ferraris/Maseratis/ one or 2 other marques.....give you so much more.

Speed without pedigree, style and perhaps gravitas means nothing...................575,599, 612, GT/S......these are your true choices

Thank you Jim, that had helped bundles. I agree, I dont drag race and never bite when the Audi/BMW/Merc drivers come a knocking, but I also do not want to feel that I am compromising. It comes back to what Pat/MaserSod said, he is struggling to find a reason why he should pay all that extra money for no performance gain....based upon going from a GS to a GTS.

In a nutshell, that's it. I paid 45K for my GranSport and never once thought about what else I could have had for the money. If I spent 60-65K now on a GT-S with no warranty left, I would be thinking every now and then that I could have had something 'better' for the money. Not classier, but 'better' (dual clutch, more modern gearbox, that kind of boring thing).

Only if I had absolutely oodles of money would the passion thing completely override the value for money aspect.

The Audi is fast, but lacks charisma.
The Porsche is fast, but the styling is common across a range of models.
The BMW is fast and technically excellent, but it's styling is bland.
The Maserati combines unique and successful styling with more than adequate performance for most purposes along with practical space for day to day use, or for Grand Touring as its name suggests.

If outright performance is your main criteria none of the above would appear on any shorlist so the drag races, whilst fun, are pointless.

I know you cant do it everyday Frank , but there is something special about doing 130 mph obviously in the correct permitted areas dropping a couple of gears and accelerating hard up to 160-170 , i know was playing similarly in France obviously in a permitted area and was struggling to keep up with a GTR he was streets ahead by the time i got to 150 mph ,we did it several times, it was so frustrating cruising at 120 and then playing to higher speeds , and as we all know the masser pulls well at those speeds , just that the GTR does it far better

GTR = Datsun with computerised engine

Maserati GS/GT/GTS = all the rest plus you have some input

There's no disputing it Frank , saw a program about GTR engine , the r and d costs of the hand built blue printed engine were greater than any Ferrari to date ,Nissan saw their competition as the Lexus LFA , performance data is very similar , but Nissan priced there cars around the £70K mark and Lexus at £300K , an Italain designed Masser with all usual refinements and with GtR engine would be fine by me, cant see any chavness in that

I'm not sure but from the comments over the last few months on the GTR I think there will be a dark corner on the forum with the words Nissan GTR which can only be seen when the moon is full and the clock strikes midnight.
