Would it be possible/straight forward to install a 4.7 dry sump engine from a GTS to an early QPV DS ?

There isn’t a 4.7 dry sump, they are all wet sump. Some then extra bits and bobs.
Oh, I was under the impression that all cars with F1 gearbox were dry sump.
If you read the rest of the thread you will see that it is a pretty complicated issue, only to be undertaken with a good amount of courage and a propensity to solve very complicated problems. A lot of time and some spare cash also seems to be required. From what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t even bother unless you have masochistic tendencies.Would it be possible/straight forward to install a 4.7 dry sump engine from a GTS to an early QPV DS ?
Do you mean, no difference in sound/speed/torque? So the other car was still sounding different and running faster? Or identical sound? BTW, am not after speed, just trying to replicate the sound of 4.7 Sport GT S.Has been done for the forum before on the GT - No difference found when two cars were run side by side, one with one without.
I think its DMS?
That was a long while ago, but yes Dan! Had the DMS and ran it alongside Matt's standard car. The difference was negligibleHas been done for the forum before on the GT - No difference found when two cars were run side by side, one with one without.

Sorry, what is DMS?
Did they replace the exhaust/back boxes to oval ones, installed an air filter too? Was it 4.2 Granturismo to 4.7 Granturismo?Has been done for the forum before on the GT - No difference found when two cars were run side by side, one with one without.

Thank you, that answers my question. I was advised that the difference on 4.7 to 4.7 would be negligible, someone was trying to tune Quattroporte 4.7 S to match Quattroporte 4.7 Sport GT S. From 4.2, however to 4.7 that is a completely different scenario...It was just a remap on a number of cars. The 2 GTs were both 4.7 GTS with some previous exhaust mods
I suppose i can always buy 4.7 GT S in the endWithout wishing to be “that guy” in all my years, I have never heard a 4.2 that sounds like a 4.7. I think on a fundamental level, the volume flow of gas is lower and so generates a different note, even when the pipes are the same. This won’t change, as it is a function of the bore and stroke, plus the cam timing.
That isn’t to say that a 4.2 doesn’t or can’t sound good. But it will be different.
