Hi all - not sure where this car has been parked in the past, possible near the sea (or in it!)

I want to sort this but wondered the best way - paint or new/second parts? Any advice or experience?

Im in north UK

Congrats that is the worst paint peeling I have seen to date on the cam covers... Seem worse plenums!

If you are good with hand tools and have several hours of free time with the patience to suit you can remove it all, send it to a local surface finishers to get fresh paint and refit

Alternatively buy used parts, paint them and swap straight on but that's throwing money at it and I suggest to avoid such practices.

Third option, keep the bonnet closed. Out of sight out of mind and all that

Wow, that is rather corroded; have you been underneath and checked the subframes etc?

As above that is bad but just cosmetic.
Remove the parts and get blasted then you can refinish, plenty of guides on how to paint crackle online.

I’d be more worried about the subframes, brake pipes and anything else made of the poorly protected steel underneath.

Thanks for the replies… I agree it is a bit of a shocker & looks like a genuine ‘barn find’ but i reckon… hope… I got a bargain because of it.
The car all looks good though… will have em check.

Can anyone suggest best place for left & right engine cover replacements - found on scuderiaparts but would be happy with used

Good Luck there's some work there but nothing impossible.
Allow for new gaskets and seals to for putting back together.
All doable at home if you're confident with hand tools.

Just a few bits to clean up n take rust off etc.
Got done after the belt snapped due to the aircon pump seized… a blessing in disguise - got the pump for about £300 ish new -better than £800 or £4/500 second hand.
Had a lovely drive & all working nicely

it could never have looked worse so obviously looks 100% better, now you will have to do the plenum to “keep up” with appearances.

Top job - well done
