So there’s not a lot of spare capacity if you’re trying to charge 3 cars then?

Can't remember where I read it but 26 hours to charge 60kwh is what they quote on the camc website , a model X is 100kwh so my point stands, *** useless .

Well, 2.3kw is isn’t 200w and 26 hours for 100% isn’t overnight for 3%. Now I could point out that when you have an EV you always leave home with a full tank of electrons and so the likelihood of having charge from empty is quite low. But I appreciate that that’s a balanced view you don’t want to hear.

All this proves to me is that if you own a caravan, and don’t want to be bothered to got somewhere with a proper charging point, then an EV is a bad choice due to the caravan club being electrical tight arses. But to be fair, going on a holiday where emptying a tank of your own poo is one of the activities isn’t high in my list of priorities either. So it takes all sorts.

one way to destroy a mc Stradale, or any Granturismo for that matter, the electric conversion would take away its soul. Can’t imagine driving mine without the sound of the v8 and that exhaust note, no matter how fast is the end result!

The initial post I quoted was a motorhome with a 120 mile range so it is quite likely you'd arrive with a low battery , being a 3.5t van I'd guess it'll have a 100kwh battery so 44 hours to charge full or 11 hours to 25% or 30 miles which might get you to a fast charger

So back to my original post , utterly useless

You have absolutely no evidence to support the suggestion that a camper with 120 miles of range would have a 100kwh battery. What Nayf was referring to was a classic conversion, which patently wouldn’t have space for such a device. Anyway. Whatever. If you want to cherry pick details to support your view, that’s your look out. Don’t let facts weigh you down.

I can see the point there. That car has always been about style and looks, and though the engines have character they are not the defining part.

Range is the problem. While Tesla/Audi can get useable range (I get 300 out of my 3.2 V6 Alfa, that’s my metric), these conversions - from what I have seen - struggle to get into three figures. Other than pottering around the local area, what’s the point?
I saw a camper with a range of 120 miles the other day… what a great holiday…

86kwh batteries

I commented on the last sentence, an electric camper van with a 120 mile range that takes 30+ hours to fully charge on campsite power is useless

Cars are one thing but if the future is electric they're going to have to do a lot better than that , especially when the 120 miles will be lab miles , actual miles will be less., and lets not forget , a standard camper new is 70k-80k built on a 30k van
96045
and the range , which is unlikely to be at 3.5t
96046

for me to get to Dover from here in an esprinter would be 4-5 charges if I wanted to be on the boat fully charged.

Electric cars might be the future for those that can afford them but nobody on minimum wage driving a 10 year old fiesta is buying a 30k EV and if they do get down to 10 year old fiesta money you'll be lucky to get to Asda and back

your comment about the toilets also makes me laugh , campsites have toilets, I've not reached the point where I can't make it , yet

I wouldn't convert a classic car into an electric one.
A Classic car is the whole package of noise, age, smell (is it me or do all the Biturbos smell the same?), lack of perfection by todays' standards. For me, the AM475 of my 2.24v is at the center of the experience.
Same for my 1982 RX-7, take the Wankel away and what would it be left with?
Having owned a Prius since 2005, we've bought another one (same series 2 type!) in 2017. To get you from A to B it's still a great choice. It cost me less then the equivalent of 4000 GBP and does (real numbers) 63 MPG on my daily commute. I spend about 1800 EU per year in gasoline, these numbers are very hard to beat by any other modern car.
Now as we may need to change an old Lancia y with something modern (used), I'm thorn between a BMW i3 with REX or a Mazda RX-8 o_O.

i have customers asking for up, to 3 chargers per house now so if falls down right there 3 x 7kw chargers plus running the house
pop gos the incoming main fuse hence the dno asking for a g99 application before you install one

How's anything going to work if, like our neighbours, you have 4 cars (mum, dad, two 20-something kids) who all go out to work in the morning and drive several miles to and from their work and you all have leccy cars?

I guess you'll have to watch Corrie on your mobile in the evening. In the dark.

The future is electric cars…. If you can afford to run them!

There is potential (no pun intended) for yet more pain:
