And in most cases AI has dubious responses and is used for the wrong reasons. One of my team members asks AI to write his email responses, he was spending so much time asking AI to respond, then changing wording so that I didn't think it was AI - all to save him thinking - we had one of those Manager - Team Member discussions and its stopped ;)
A colleague of mine doesn't have great English and clearly uses AI to help him communicate some points. It's hilarious, always comes out very florid. I'd like an option to enable Shakespearean mode, to really lively things up a bit. It has its uses... but it's no substitute for work (yet).

If slow sales were a good reason to stop making cars, Aston and Maserati would have been put down decades ago

I spent yesterday as a passenger in an Audi Q8 EV very comfy spacious car but I found the EV motor whine annoying at very low speeds. I also notice the drive could motor would not leave the aircon on/off switch alone.

It’s been years since I have drove with someone who turns the air con on and off to save fuel, but yesterday that exactly what was happening. On then off, car fogs up back on, drove me mad. Surely aircon can’t make that much difference.

As for solar panels, before they cover more of the countryside, they should cover the roofs of all the huge data centres and distribution centres we see springing up everywhere.

you are right the aricon does nto make that much difference. This is range anxiety at its worst. I ignore it and jsut use the car like you would anyother car, and just stop and recharge it if needed, instead of driving like a mental patient just to get an extra 10 miles it's a bit daft really. and yes ~I test drove an Audi and there was a whine from the motors, that and the suspension was a bit on the hard side put me off.

In France car parks over a certain size have to have a solar array above them, seems logical large open spaces full of energy consuming cars for long periods of time

The thing is this isn’t Aston or Maserati it’s a mass producer of cars and I would imagine the lack of electric sales would make a huge difference to their future and if they survive or not. If all they make is electric and they aren’t selling that would be their downfall so putting it back may not make sense for the enviroment but it will for their bank balance surely.

Both have lurched from crisis to crisis throughout their histories, just another to fare.

Some of us over on a Volvo forum have been predicting this for a couple of years. My petrol XC90 is a brilliant car but they should have developed a mark III version rather than face lifting the current one again. Mind other manufacturers are doing the same, realising they seriously miscalculated.
Totally agree...Would love to get a new XC90, but the current car only has upgraded infotainment over our present one, and only comes with black or white trim option.

I'm old enough to remember threads like this on photography forums about how digital cameras would never match film!

Film camera production stopped much earlier than most people anticipated and most films were discontinued but the great thing is nothing ever actually goes away completely. Last time I walked through London I saw five people with proper cameras (ie not phones) around their necks. Four were film cameras. Vinyl records have made a comeback. Save the petrol for the Maseratis and the calories for the bacon sarnies I say :)

The vinyl 'comeback' needs to be viewed in context of what used to be the *huge* number of records sold. Also the really odd thing about fetishing old decks.

But fundamentally, yes

I couldnt help myself. Bought a Michell Orbe turntable a couple of weeks ago, even though I already have two fabulous vintage Michell decks that I hardly ever use. So there’s no real logic to the purchase, other than it’s a fabulous thing.

Hence the price of a vinyl record, £20+! Shame woolies are out of business
