Guys

I'm tracking a couple of 3200 over here in Oz (I'm in Brisbane) but they're just so stratospherically expensive by compariosn to UK prices it just isn't funny! I've lookd into personal importing from the UK too but the Govt and their rules make it almost impossible for the standard bloke to buy one over in the UK and import it personally. Odd garages (with RAWS certificates) will do it but charge $15,000 just for the benefit of using their name. Then you have the shiiping, import duties, GST (like VAT) compliancing to Australian standards and then the killer - 33% luxury car tax - so any savings you might make gets wiped out in the end. It's a real bugger as over in the UK 15,000 pounds seemingly will get a decent example and that's 'only' AU$ 25,000 but you'll pay 2.5 times that so upwards of $60,000!!!!!!!! If anyone has any inside info on getting one from the UK to Australia then feel free to let me know! Gary

Gary,
We run one of 2 workshops in Australia licensed to import the the 3200. A good 3200 worth say, 12,000GBP would cost you a total of $40,000 including all shipping, taxes and compliance costs, not cheap relative to the the UK price but not quite the $60k you estimated.

Well you never know Parisien, but more importantly you would think that contributors on sportsmaserati would be enthusists, and the cars theoreticallly better than most, as such I'd be happy to point potential buyers here which gives you guys another market when selling your cars, keeping in mind that when the market is slow in your winter its picking up in our summer.

.....must be the route for your countrymen to follow...take advantage of the strong Ozzie dollar ( do you mind us/me using the word Ozzie.... J.C?)...cos sure as H*E*L*L...your government loves to shaft you with car imports...horrific!!!

Are you kidding, why would I be offended? We're a pretty relaxed lot over here. As for the import taxes and rules, they keep getting tighter and tighter.....so we can protect Ford, GM and Toyota....like they need protecting......everything else is imported anyway!
Too boring, I won't go down that track.
