Apologies if this has already been covered. Anyone know the implications for Masers?

US manual says up to 10% is okay also. However, ethanol is hygroscopic and will absorb water from the air. As I live in a very humid area, I only use Shell V-Power N+ premium gas. Don't know if you chaps have the equivalent over there, but it is 93 octane m+r/2 gas only. Works well for me.

I understand your concern, but I would expect that if you keep your petrol in a sealed container I won’t do too much absorbing.

But yes, we have low ethanol here too, but we measure our octane differently so your 93 is our 98 (ish).

Blimey, that was a bit tinfoil hat.

I have been reading up on this. It seems, as usual, that there is more than one answer. This will take a while to read:

I does seem to back up the Bamford chaps statement about closed loop and open loop control, in that there is almost no power effect at part throttle and a couple of % at full throttle. In essence, if you can get enough ethanol into the engine, it will make more power, but if there isn’t enough because of the base map, it might be a teeny bit down.

Fuel consumption, which is defined by volume, will reduce as you have to use more to make the same power.

that's an eye opener and thanks for posting, always thought V Power was the best, clearly not, this guy is saying esso ultimate, but does he mean esso supreme+99
That's my assumption. I've a feeling they re-branded it, but could be wrong. Supreme+99 is my tipple of choice, anyway.

Depends where you live. In some parts of the UK Esso Super Unleaded does contain ethanol.
