Door won't close - new variant

Yes there are quite a few posts around the place suggesting what causes a door not to work. The precise symptom was that on slamming the door, the catch didn't grab and it just swung open again. Nothing out of line, catch not closed etc. In this case the background and cure I think add a new variant to the problem. So...

My battery went flat, despite my dashboard solar panel trickle charger - it's been cold, overcast and I hadn't driven for over a week. So I removed battery and took indoors to charge it. When I reconnected I followed the QPV drill! Yes, connect battery, wait 5mins. Open door, insert key and turn systems on (do not start engine). Wait 5 mins. With key in slot, press fob buttons to lock and then to open. Start engine. At this point it fired up beautifully but I noticed the driver door was swinging and not latching. Tried all combos of lock/unlock. Engine on/off. At this point wondering what is wrong, I open the rear door behind driver door. Now that one won't close again - same symptoms... won't respond to lock/unlock etc. I now have two doors flapping in the breeze. Obviously use some bungy cord to hold them shut, drive around the block only to hear doors lock then unlock repeatedly. So I figured this is an electrical problem. Disconnect battery and go through the routine again. Now the rear door is back to closing but the driver is still flapping. On that door I observe that the handle latch is pushed in - I mean on the outside door handle there are two black leavers... forward one is the quick electronic open and smaller rear one works the latch mechanically.
The cure: I sprayed WD40 into the outside of the driver door handle and then with a thin screwdriver gradually picked at and levered out the manual latch on the door. So, it was a physical problem of a jammed latch. The problem of the rear door I believe was because there must be some kind of electronic interlock which fools the rear into staying open if the front door is open I guess?

A classic example of how as a QP owner you get conditioned by temperamental electronics and tiptoe around battery reconnection routines only to be fooled by a jammed latch!

Yes, lack of use. One of mine did this recently and was just manual button stuck in. Freed it off, all ok. I suppose they just don’t get used, should probably make yourself use the manual ones at least once a month just to keep them free.

Windows not detented?
They should drop about 1cm. Doors won't close if not retracted and bounce open.
On battery fail there's a relearn procedure.
Cat will be along soon to remind. Something to do with standing near the boot with one leg cranked, facing South and holding one of the buttons

QP. Doors are not frameless so no window drop required. I thought he stood like that normally?

Similar problem happened again - battery died overnight. "Something" draining it I guessed. So put in new battery and when I closed the boot I noticed the little servo locking noise didn't sound. Aha! This is a locking problem... low and behold the manual latch on rear offside passenger handle was stuck in. It seems this stops systems shutting down and allows battery drain. Usual cure of picking out the latch with sharp tool and spray with WD40. Spray all handles just in case! Only an experienced Maser owner (or at least a user on this forum) would have known to check the handle. I was stuck in a caravan park in Devon with one day left before leaving and facing major grief from family.... so satisfying to solve!
