So, the QP has a dip stick in the block does it cant be right being dry sump, I think I am missing something.

The 42/GS has the dipstick in the separate tank with is attached to the cap that screws off is the QP not the same?

Agree regarding the suggestion to write to Maserati UK, but at the same time as writing to the dealer. Tell the dealer you have also written to M.UK. Also include photo's if you have them.

Am all for writing...................but would suggest asking for a face to face meeting with the dealer principal to start with....see what happens.......as some one else remarked...he may well not be aware of whats been done in the name of his business, alternately...he may well not care either!

Yes its in the separate tank on the duoslect (red cam covers). The automatica (ZF transmission) is wet sump and has blue cam covers. I expect the tank/dipstick is the same item as that on the 4200 series cars.

Checked under the car last night, the two undertrays show obvious traces of oil at trailing edges and fixing points. Seems the dealer put very little effort into cleaning them up. I called them today and they said bring the car back in tomorrow morning which I agreed to. Now thinking about it I'm wondering if its worth it, they've had two attempts already so am I better just doing it myself and not having to risk any more iatrogenic faults.

Simon any up-dates on this?

P

Rather than take it back to the dealer and pick up any other issues I removed the front undertray myself and wiped around. Very little oil to speak of, the base of the oil feeder tank was easily accessible and just had a fine film of oil covering some areas. Not really any oil inside the undertray, it looks as if they just didn't bother cleaning the underside probably expected road spray to clean it over time.

So sorry to read of your problems Simon, I know how much you adore your car.
When we met a DMS you did say you thought JCT were not the best in the world now you have absolute proof.
Meridien must be from a different planet as everyone but no-one has been impressed with their level of care and attention to the point of them being quite anal about workmanship.
I know its a long way for the next service but may restore your faith in main dealers, at least a bit.
Hope you are keeping well apart from the irritation of all this, my blood would be boiling..

PS
My warning came on this weekend saying 'Electrical malfunction, contact dealer' and showed the tyre pressure logo. I rang Meridien who said 'no problem it will not prevent me driving it until the service booked in for July during which they will fix it under warranty along with any other issues they find. Very pleased I extended my warranty for 2 extra years.

Hi Barrie,

yes it seems everybody thinks Meridien are a good dealer but its a 500 mile round trip for me so ideally I need somewhere nearer. The reason I went back to JCT600 was that it was convenient (they pick my car up and leave a courtsey car), however after there last performance I won't be going back.

Your warning light , does it clear itself when you restart the car? When my battery is running low I can get these imaginary type error codes which don't reflect real faults.

I have a 900 Mile round trip to Meridien and although I had an issue with them that has been more than just resolved I would recomend them 100%

Hi, what was the "issue" exactly? What do you do drive down and stay a night or two in a hotel?

I tried that Simon but the warning light persists. Meridien think its maybe the receiver which is apparently somewhere in the wheel arch.

Hi Mate if you read the 32-4200 service thread its there. A honest miss understanding when I got the car. I am very pleased to say all is now sorted & agreed to do the tappets.

I get the work done while I'm down for Goodwood festival of speed etc. Drop it off they give me a car for a couple of days. If they have a problem with finding a part etc. I fly back to Glasow and fly down to pick it up a couple of weeks later.

They are Very good.
