Dents, Dings and PDR

I was told by one of the best maserati specialists not to press close the bonnet but let it drop evenly from about 20cms as pressing it will cause dents.
I have heard that and rightly or wrongly I always gently press on the haunches with my thumb and knuckle of my index as dropping it seems quite crass, but then again it is Italian. No issues to date hence my irritation at spotting the dent nowhere near where I ever close the bonnet. Front off centre as if someone's given it one for luck. The last garage I took it to caused about £300-400 of body/paint damage in return for their £100ph so I'm not surprised. I never let on as they're on my doorstep and may need them in an emergency (heaven forbid), but I have since found another specialist via a friend in work.

This. Pretty sure it's what the manual says as well. 116 Giulietta was the first car I saw this on

I always take care while closing the bonnet, still I have an awful dent in that area. I suspect it is from ”youngsters” taking pictures while sitting on the bonnet (with the trident visible between the legs) on moments when the car is parked on the street or in a parking garage. :mad:
