Off up North to collect the Wee Woman from Tatton and pulled into Stafford services after an hour or so on M5/6. Turned down into the parking area and as I went to turn into a lane the car died - lost power steering. Restarted OK and off again.

Not the first time we have had this. Low speed embarrassment! Usually after a drive of >30 min. Ideas?

Would be worth reading error codes. See whether it’s showing lost connection with crank sensor or the like.

Is it a CC? Did it stall? Clutch dragging when slowing down, possibly.

CC yes and no obvious clutch issues. Everything just stops - engine, into neutral and a slow roll with stiff steering. Off to SI in Sept so we will see what can be read.

Seen this a lot, remedied by one, some or all off the following:

Dirty MAF, usual contaminated by rubber or oil from BMC filters. The rubber bonds to the canister and when you pull it deposits those on the MAF

Worn pedal pot

Clogged carbon canister. They are not a service item as in the QP/GT 4 year service so never/rarely get changed. Usually presents after a recent full tank

Dirty throttle body

Split in the intake pipe.

Mine used to do that until SI sorted it. Has done it once since but that was in Italian heat and heavy traffic (so we abandoned the queue and went somewhere different) - Matt said those conditions can trigger it.
