Surely at £8K there's head-room isn't there Andy? What are comparable 3200 prices? £12 - 14K? Does look tidy otherwise?

Wow, that's depressing Dem, but thanks for clarifying. A lightly damaged V8 design classic worth £6K - sad.

I paid less than that for my 53 plate 4200 nearly 4 years ago now , a tad more damage , but still new wing headlight and bumper, and it only had 18K miles on the clock, salvage prices have gone up generally , but this one is way over the top , Your right Andy £6K is about right , but its fast approaching the dreaded 68K chains service so take that into account

Yep was thinking 5k to be honest .. There is a green repaired cat car sale on autotrader with 55k on clock for 9500 so with a bit a haggling thats a 8k-9k car and then it makes the grey on loook over priced. There are also another two normal 3200's with 90k on the clock for between 9k/10k for sale which as long as serviced well would be a better buy.

Surely the grey one woul still cost 3/4k to put right.

Thats right on the border line Andy where the car is worth that as a breaker unfortunately , i reckon £6500 readies would clinch it , all that is repairable at a good body shop , wing and bumper and door dents can all be easily pulled , £1500 would sort that, the bulk of the money making sure the paint is spot on ,hardest Maserati colour to match , too many in that colour show where they have been painted , i believe matt had his bumper done 2/3 times before it was right and Rob4wd also had probs with his bumper matching

So evenn if you got it for 6k it could still cost up to 10k to put right with paint .. Not worth it ...

This is the one repaired .. It was up for 10k but coming down .. At 8k it could be a good buy depending on history and what happened to the car...

From reading Loz's reply it sounds like he meant £1500 incl paint. Only looks like the bumper and headlight would need replacing - wing and door would be easy repars. You could probably get it painted for £700 or so....even if it did take them a couple of tries to get it 100%.

Not worth it unless the car comes with the service history, red key etc either.

Are the chains really that dreaded? When my old car was approaching it I was advised by both a main dealer and two specialists that replacing the chains was overkill (and was something Maserati had put in the service schedule to cover their backs), and nobody had ever heard of a chain snapping or even getting noisy.

Even if the chain is changed, it can be done in situ and the cost is less than a set of discs and pads!
