Cracked Ghibli Headlights why ?

Hi Nick

It's a problem on some cars just because of the position of the individual light unit. The Joy of owning a hand built car! two mm out and it will make contact with the bonnet when being shut. Bill McGraths have a RH one at the moment, I know as it's off my car a total loss last month.

Please post up some pictures of your cup.

Had both my headlights crack on the volvo after the snow on the bonnet slid down onto them and the cold just made them crack.

Hi All,
I'm a newbie here...so go easy! I just thought I'd add my thoughts about the headlights having read this post.

Interesting to read that others always seem to have the N/S headlight crack. The exact smae thing has happend to the the N/S light on my Cup. Rather disapointingly this was after fitting a brand new unit and fitting it with headlight protecting film. I noticed it was cracked after being left out on a very hot day all day in the sun, but can't be 100% sure it wasn't cracked before.
I'll certainly take at a look at the installation on mine to see if the theroy of the bonnet catching the glass....certainly seems plausible.

Does anyone know if this is only on UK cars or dies the RH healight also seem to fail more frequently on non UK cars bacasue that side of the car is also subjected to a lot more bumps, jolts etc?

@Malcom P....nice collection of cars. I've also had a few 75 V6 Veloce models...great car, but not as great as a Ghibli Cup!

cheers

Nick
Nick,
I have been studying too much and missed your reply. I had a 75 veloce and loved it until one day on the M42 the front splitter just dropped down and went straight through the nearside front tyre. I had it repaired but never quite had the confidence in the car again and went to the cloverleaf model that doesn't quite have the same presence in my opinion. Great cars but probably not quite in the cup league (where of course I have experienced cracked lights too). However, when I thought I could pick up a great 75 in Italy on the cheap I was disappointed and also delighted to see how expensive a good 75 turbo model was. My 75 is now looking rather sad parked outside but I cannot part with it although my neighbours would be rather grateful if I did.
