Hi all

Regarding where we are with the 550 discs/3200/4200, I took delivery today of the OEM Brembo's I said I would order from my other thread (pair of fronts to start with). They are indeed cross-drilled as per Brembo technical drawing. Very nicely done with 5.85mm dia holes surrounded by a countersink of 9.85mm dia. Started to check all dimensions and so far so good. Just need someone with an original 3200/4200 disc off the car for final checking of the off-set. Going by the dimension from a post from another forum from some time back we look to be just 400 microns (0.4mm) adrift, hence why I would like to measure a 3200/4200 off a car myself (new or worn disk would be fine as this measurement will not be altered by age), the measurement those people took may not have been precise (and also one of them had a vested interest in selling Maserati parts - just an observation). So it's just down to that one last confirmation and we are all good to go with fronts. Yes they are drilled, yes they are the correct 330mm dia, yes they are correct 32mm thick, yes the bolt holes all line up, yes they are vented with the new pillar technology, yes they are high carbon, yes the bell housing mounting flange is 7mm thick, yes the price is a lot cheaper! Anyone with a disk near Northants?

Once resolved I'll also tackle the rears.

Cheers

James
(Will also get some photos up of them later or tomorrow evening)

James

Think my front disks are due to be replaced, so might be able to pull one off nearer Christmas for comparison.
Happy to come across from Huntingdon or meet somewhere nice half way?

Photos of front 550 discs as promised. Fantastic quality as would expect of Brembo. Nice drilled and countersink.
Just the last measurement to check against a 3200/4200 disk to confirm off-set and then we are in business with the fronts. Cost me 95.68 each including VAT and delivery. Came direct from Brembo UK Ltd Logistics.

Sorry for entering this conversation late on, been away from the forum for a while.

So - 2 days back into work, and I'm an hour from home. Handbrake on outside a client and it's gone, broken, the handbrake is knackered!

When I go to drive, the car makes the worst noise ever - screeching, sounds like the back of my car is trailing behind me.

I crawl into a garage and the guys confirm my handbrake shoes have disintegrated. I can drive the hour home but have no handbrake.

I take it to my local indie - confirms the shoes have gone and prices them from Maranello as £64 per shoe and I need 4!!!

Luckily my indie's hourly rate is only £40 per hour so labour was £80. But with carriage and the lovely 20% VAT rate it's cost £465!

Does this match everyone else's experiences and has your handbrake shoes done the same with the same noise??

Cheers

Mind you Mark, my guy had to replace backing plate....plus those two "blocks" as they'd rusted away/gotten damaged, then reassemble as he hadn't taken them off in first place...........am reluctant to tell you how much my mechanic mate charged.......

All interesting given how useless the handbrake is on the 3200/4200. Maserati must be the only manufacturer where the move to an EPBs makes sense.

Big Bob - I always thought that, seems brilliant now with the new work done.

P - mine had gone completely and needed new shoes - couldn't wait for a re line unfortunately. I assume thismis a possibility if it ever happens again in future.

Has anyone else experienced the noise that I did when the handbrake shes went???

Mark, in mine, though no noises, bits of metal/lining floating/scraping about within that confined space.......could well have been responsible!?
