Not sure where we got to with exchanging maserati disks for ferrari 550 ones...
but I have been doing a little more research, the ferrari part number for the fronts is 169765,
these retail at £195 plus vat at various spares places...
there is an advert on ebay at the moment from LK Performance and styling for £115 (inc free P&P)...
the brembo part number is 09.6802.20...unfortunately, I have not been able to cross reference this with a maserati part...

....but as ever guys....if not drilled.........instead grooved or both...................does it really make a difference( discs off a Ferrari...stopping similar car...aren't at all suitable for Maseratis!!??))..................who also puts OEM stuff onto their car every time.........ie...are after market exhausts OEM equivalents.......giving rise to other probs or insurance issues...............all very tangled and opinion oriented!!!

You are right P...to OEM or not, it's down to the individual to decide...taking safety into consideration.
exhausts are a different kettle of fish...to me, they do not directly affect the safety features like brakes or tyres...

Yes...but from an insurance angle re exhausts...........embellishes the car...draws attention....more desirable/nickable...you know what insurance companies are like....

Nice one Enz525

Think the crucial measurement is the offset on the rotor surfaces, which could be 1mm out.
Maybe it would be 1mm spacer (not very nice) or machine 1mm off the inside mounting face.

I calculated "mounting face to centre of disk = 37.7"
Difficult to measure on a worn disk, but willing to try if anyone can tell me how.

P

From an insurance angle there is definately an implication...
mine went up about £100 when I put on the larini system on because of the perceived gain in HP of up to 10% .
Always best to tell the insurance company of ANY and ALL modifications!!

P

the ones I referred to earlier from Lk...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Front-Brembo-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483e2020b5

are brembo ones.

Interestingly enough...ES also shows them as drilled

http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult.asp?find=&M=1&Mo=&A=&B=&S=169765

But mine are definately not drilled...they have PVT (Pillar Venting technology)...

Also worth asking if they are HC (High Carbon cast iron).

I did check to see if the disks are different because of the Fiorano handling pack...and no, the disks are the same, the calipers are different.

A bit strange....drilled pics versus non-drilled...same Brembo part numbers(?).......and you were about to explain what PVT technology is?!

Double the price....plus on ES for a pair or?

I think that stock pics or diagrams are used, but the specification for the actual fitment drives what is delivered.

Here is where I think we are on prices:
diskcomp.JPG

PVT:
pv.JPG
The innovative Brembo patented pillar venting technology boosts overall disc cooling and increases up to more than 40% resistance to thermal cracking.

HC:
hc.JPG
HC means special cast irons, with characteristics aimed at the production of certain brake discs, not easily achievable with standard production, but only trough high technology facilities and Brembo specific metallurgical knowledge. Thanks to a better damping factor, these cast irons can reduce noises and vibrations.

Cheers Enz.......................the small print slightly enlarged on the PP discs...............we can ask who makes them for them!!!
