Just returned from a very nice holiday and thought I would check out the price of fuel whilst in Egypt.
Maths is not my strong point so I was quite relieved when my currency conversion technique revelead a cost of 90L.E. (Egyptian Pounds) to be approx £1 a litre.

How wrong was I - its 90 cents a litre which is about 9pence!!!

I very nearly emptied all the suitcases of clothes and bought plastic bottles to fill with fuel!

Yeah, I get *really* hacked off when the govt blame it on everything but the tax.

I was in Romania on the weekend, I got a taxi from the airport to my hotel in central Bucharest, the cost was 13 RON (love it!) which is roughly two quid sixty. Go work out what the cost of fuel is if the drivers are doing two to three trips like this per hour and still making a living.

I was in Denmark last week and it was 10 krona per litre for diesel, 11 for petrol, so roughly £1...

Just returned from Cyprus where we hired a Jeep for 3 days - it was 1.24 euro per litre - so that £1.08.

You'll like this. In Hungary, a country better off than Romania but still a long long way off the UK, I filled up at the weekend and paid 445 HUF/litre. That's £1.45, albeit for V Power Racing. I'd pay £1.23/l for standard 95 RON petrol.
