Clutch readings

Sorry as I know this will have been answered on here somewhere, but I have tried searching and I can't find the answer.

In people's experience as the clutch wear reading is only an indication. What reading % is most commonly thought of as about to need replacement.

Looking at a car with a reading in the mid 40% with approx 30k miles is the reason for the question.

Thanks in advance.

The idea is that the % gives you an idea of when a change will be needed. Some have got to 100% and had the clutch start to slip, some have run into trouble with 40% left. On the QP / GT the release bearing can also fail from time to time, meaning a change with a lot of meat left on it.

At 30k miles, you could say that at some point in the next 10 / 15k miles, you will probably need to do it.

As above, but the difference between a properly set up one to a new poorly set up one are night and day.

Mine was changed on 98k, had issues when I first got the car with 103k on it, clutch release bearing. Marios fixed it, I think he said then clutch read 40% I don't know if that meant left or to go. Anyway seemed a lot for 5k miles either way. However 20k miles later it's still going showing no signs of slip or poor engagement.

I put this down to Marios' supreme clutch setup skills......
