What a plonker with statements like the following in his review:

"The thing is, Maseratis are weird. They always have been. I don't know why anybody ever buys one, including me. (I did have a mad MC12, the very limited edition 205mph sports model until last year). And I have only ever met one person who owned a normal Maserati out of choice. His name is Terry, and when I asked him why he bought it, even he wasn't sure."

Overall, he does acknowledge the heritage of Maserati but does not like the direction it is heading in as evidenced by the QP 6...

once got into a bit of a barney with him and the late keith floyd. I quite liked keith, not so much the ginger winger.

Yes, he did for four days IIRC (I can't be bothered to retread it). He intimates that he only went through 1 tank of gas so he couldn't have done that many miles

You see, I read that he drove it... but that was the only sign that he actually had. Otherwise it was a jumble of words relating to what the thing looks like, some comment about the screen and the fact that he thinks it looks a bit fat. Oh - it sounds good!

Perhaps I might become a motoring journalist for the Daily Hate. I could do better than that without ever looking up from my keyboard.

It's a bit like his car collection, very impressive but for some reason I never get the feeling he cares about cars as anything other than possessions. It feels like he collects them to make an impression on other people rather than actually enjoying them.

And to make lots of money when he sells them on. The fact they belonged to him will raise the price considerably I would have thought.

Thats only recently started to be the case. Up until the last few years no one cared he'd owned them so long as he hadnt ruined them with poor and unnecessary paint jobs.

Do you reckon this rubbish review based on basically nothing has unfortunately tee'd up Top Gear to deliver there usual poor review of whatever Maserati they ever review?

It is annoying as Chris Evans likes Ferrari's largely for their heritage and "cool" factor. Why he can't apply the same against the Maserati brand I don't know.

The same goes for Clarkson when he plays up to Jaguar, Aston and Ferrari.

thought clarkson liked the QP?? It's the original version of the 4200 he slated, and then mainly about the gearbox/clutch. IIRC he was saying much the same thing about most flappy paddle stuff at the time. And to be honest the later 4200/GS is the first iteration where it has been good. Once they get double clutch boxes they'll be as good as a manual if not better (provided they attach the paddles to the wheel rather than the column)

I personally dont like slush boxes and that goes for flappy paddle versions too (although the 8 speed in the wiflets new disco is rather sweet).
