Category N repair

Couple of years ago I damaged the N/S rear light, crunched in the wing and bumper backing into the garage. Insurance wanted to write it of as uneconomical to repair. Negotiated cash settlement with them and I had it repaired for less than £2k. Will this now show up as a Cat N when checked by any purchaser? I have pictures of the damage and invoice from a reputable body shop.

If you go in to the autotrader site and start creating an advert, it gives you an option to view the ad before paying and it’ll show if it’s a Cat N S etc no need to pay anything

If you took payment in lieu of repairs then it shouldn't be categorised. My understanding is that vehicles only carry an insurance marker when a total loss claim has been paid out.

My mate bought his back (took less of a payment) as it would have been a total loss at insurance costings and his is showing as N.

That’s because it was a total loss claim/pay out, less the amount they sold the ‘wreck’ to him for.

My lads car got a cat-s for a minor front end as they couldn’t be bothered to inspect it so ‘played safe’!
