Sorry few sherbets earlier so late posting without checking previous postsI’m sure it is a Gts same as mine except for the alcantara interior which is standard as bilstiens & black quad pipes.
It will state on the V5 anyway so ask the seller to send you a photo if still not convinced.
Ps. only Quattroporte on glovebox but if you’re a bit sad like me you can buy the Gts bit from the usual suspects
Wrong. If it is a genuine 2008 GTS, it will say so above the glove box
Wrong.
Only the face-lift 4.7 cars had the the GTS label on the glove box.
But of course, when that badge appeared, many owners of the earlier 4.2 GTS cars put it on their gloveboxes. Me included!
The car in this thread is definitely an original 4.2 GTS.
Thanks Wack61 - this seems like sound advice. Sadly its not local, so I can’t easily view it.Having viewed the advert and confirmation from ewan it's a GTS i think you need to go and have a look at it with the caveat you'll struggle to sell it if it proved to be too costly to run
The owner seems genuine , if it was a cat d at 6 years old it could've been something minor , insurance companies look at parts availability and the cost of putting the owner in a similar car while it's being repaired
If maserati said 6 weeks for parts and a similar car was £300 a day that could be enough even if it was just a dented wing and bumper
If it's local and your happy with it , intend to keep it and the big one, can afford to fix it when it breaks throw a daft number at him, if he says no walk away , sometimes the first offer is the best offer
Take a friend as the voice of reason because you'll test drive it and be pulling cash out of your pocket and throwing it at him before you get back
Get it inspected , especially the subframe
Really ? - I did not know that was possible!I saw an episode of salvage hunters classic cars and they had the same problem discovered it was cat car previously due to door locks being forced and no replacement available at the time. They took it to be inspected and the classification was removed. just a thought.
Totally agree and if you keep it as long as he has and service it appropriately it will most likely be a safe bet. It's a lot of car for 10k
Just the fact it's still being serviced at a specialist even though he's found out it's a cat D says he's a decent guy
Really ? - I did not know that was possible!

While not on the register as a cat car your old 4200 had a whole rear quarter at some point in its life.'VCAR – Vehicle Condition Alert Register Category S or N to Condition Inspected.'
Which strikes me as not being *quite* the same thing as removing the classification. However, this seems like a reasonable plan, though!

It must've been when it was fairly new so they repaired it rather than write it off
These days they seem to write them off with really minor damage , followed a car transporter with a 20 plate renault suv on the back , plate taped up so you couldn't read it so bought at a salvage auction , all I could see was a split rear bumper cover , rest of the car looked fine
