@Ewan a good friend of mine up here is the Westfield dealer. I could put you in touch, he's a good guy and will likely be smart enough to look for a sale even if he has to discount. Let me know if you fancy it, no harm no foul.

Why would you take a £500 discount when in a few weeks it will be thousands?
Caterhams seem to live in their own World with regards to price. Normal economic rules don’t apply. You either want one or you don’t, and you don’t compare them against a different car and contrast the costs. So I don’t think these will drop by the few thousand Pounds that many others will. Especially not the particular one I’m looking at. But I do want to feel appreciated as a client, and that I’ve had a good deal, neither of which I’m feeling just now.

Caterhams have never needed to exist in a market sh1t storm that is about to ensue. The price is definitely not going to go up it will only stay the same or likely go down. Really depends how strong businesses cash reserves are also how quick and deep they can reduce costs.

I should imagine recruitment consultants will be busy later this year!

My son works in a BMW Dealership and they have had folks cancelling orders in the last few days as they are unsure about their income stream at the moment

The H&H auction for tomorrow has just announced it will be conducted behind closed doors, so online and telephone bidding only. Some things could well go cheaply, e.g. the 55k mile, 2003 silver 4200 Spyder. Not many people will bid for one of these sight unseen, especially not in the current climate.

Time for the brave to step forward?

That does look very nice.

I think we buy any car have updated their system , my 2018 mustang with 6000 miles on has just been valued at £20,800 , there's not one up for retail anywhere at under 30k.

A fella on Pistonheads put his Rangie Sport in for a WBAC quote last week and got an estimate of £34k, this week it came back at £24k.

... on the plus side, i'm turning the FF into a dog car. F it, you only live once, and maybe not for long!

I think it's gone down by about 15k in the past month. So i might as well keep it. First world problem.

That's the truth. Try standing in the middle of your local supermarket next to the empty Pot Noodle aisle and complaining loudly about the depreciation on your Ferrari. :)

Like other I think car sales, especially at the higher end will fall off a cliff in the short term.
I may well look to change my XJ afterall, buyers market

More importantly 1 of only 2 out of 12 that have sold.
I got a call from aston Martin this evening on the way back from work - just ‘checking in’ to see if I was still interested in the DBS. After calmly discussing the financial climate I offered him 24 toilet rolls, £25 and a hand sanitiser for it. I said it was was a fair offer as at the end of the term I would still have lost £25 and 24 toilet rolls in value. He did see the funny side- and I would like to think he at least considered it. We agreed he would call me back in 2 weeks to revisit...

Due to get on a ferry to Liverpool and sail back to Ireland on Sat with a new car!

Hopefully I get there and back no issues but I believe the example is special but forking out a lot of liquid cash to get it! I know it’s a good buy but these uncertain times are concerning me!

Any words of wisdom?

I think wee bangers/ runabouts will be in demand as people will want to travel alone and cheaply.
