British muscle car perfection!

I must be losing my marbles as I was sure I'd already posted in here regarding the question at hand - anyway, with my other half laid up after a big op on top of losing her Mum recently, everything has been up in the air, so we've been putting off changing the cars around but I want to crack on with things and get something else now. The Maser Biturbo is up for sale having been through Migliore's and Shiltech's hands, as is the Mk2 Mini Cooper I bought last year, once both are gone I can start looking in earnest at other Italian machinery, at the moment I'm thinking about Lancia Fulvia and Montycarlo Coupes, Alfa Spyders and Giulia Coupes, Fiat 124 Spyders, 130 and 2300 Coupes, Maser QPIVs and Vs, but I'd really like to push the boat out and get a Merak, a Dino 308GT4 or a Urraco.

Plans are one thing but getting stuff done is another. I’m finding that buying a car is very frustrating, especially if you’re picky on the spec and you don’t want to order one and wait. I’ve struggled with my last 2 X5’s, which I bought online at a BMW dealer about 600 miles away. I’m now trying to get a replacement and I’ve set my sights on a new Defender as I can go places with it here in South Africa. I generally look online for demo cars or factory cars as they have a lot of goodies, but inevitably when I find one it is suddenly “reserved” or “just sold”. In the latest episode a really nice spec new Defender was ”available now” but when I went to the dealer to buy it, the car was suddenly “reserved”. This is from reputable brand dealers or the national website. Is it the same in other countries? Drives me nuts :as001 (2):

If things align, im hoping to get into a 599 GTB this year, but we shall see. Havnt driven one yet, iv got as far as sitting in 2, and firing up 1. Not interested in black or red ones, which narrows my choices down abit.

I think bait-and-switch tactics are universal, but will admit I have never experienced that with a demo. The old days of relying on paper ads, however, always resulted in something similar. "We have two XXX at this price!"...go down and oddly, they "appear" to have sold the car. One friend of mine, however, took the ad with him and stalked the aisles until he found the matching stock number, and bought his car for several thousand below sticker...
