I take it Maserati manufacture their own pads. Not all car builders do.... Years ago I remember buying pads produced by a company called 'Jurid' in West Germany for my Vauxhall Senator. When the pads arrived they had the official Vauxhall/Opel logo stamped on them. Clearly they were original equipment and yet cost a fraction of the price.

I think its all out sourced to a specialist maker....not sure who does their pads, they just stamp them Maserati for sales purposes.....same as Brembo do their discs....but says Maserati on the wrapper!

A lot of parts are made by well known manufacturers but under licence, the clutches are Made by Valeo the largest clutch manufacturer under maserati licence and only allowed to supply Maserati them selves , that way they keep control of charges , its not listed in the valeo catalogue or price list , ive tried many times , took my spare 4200 clutch into a large Valeo stockist and compared it to several similar clutches that were a quarter to a third of the price

The std 4200 Maserati brake pads are/were made by ferodo but ARE listed in their catalogue and price list , got mine form beford batttery motor supplies , front and back £74 inc vat

So Loz...the BREMBOS we are all getting/got...aint OEMs.....I know one of the online suppliers will supply either when you ask for the Ferrari 550s discs etc.......assuming that Mintex were on my car originally, definitely would say the BREMBOS are superior...or maybe the green grippers are making the difference!!!!!!

From memory, ferodo do the same as Valeo Frank , they manufacture under licence , just so happens that the brembo pad design for massers is the same as on various other makes which are no longer under licence , there is usually a time limit on the licences granted , eg 10 Years bit like patents ..... if that makes sense

Hopefully the clutch licence to Valeo will run out in 2012 , that means that they can be sold to other parts suppliers which in turn will bring down prices massively (hopefully)
