Would it seem weird to get a 3rd party PPI from Voicey for a car at Giallo? I guess it will have warranty and support from Giallo so much less risk than private.

Am test driving the one at Giallo...
Is it the LE listed at ADG? I bought my 4200 from them a good while back now. Giallo did the servicing then and ADG the sales, so not sure what the new set up is with Giallo listing cars as well.

When I bought mine though I discussed getting an independent PPI done. They were very open to it. In the end I decided to risk it, and as it happens got away with it. I had a bit of hassle getting the A/C sorted (just needed gas in the end but took an age to get to that conclusion) which ADG (mostly) covered. If I did it again though knowing what I do now and with Voicey down the road I'd ask him to take a look.

It’s an interesting question that I’m currently deliberating over...

All the advice is get a PPI done, but does that apply even if buying from a trusted specialist and forum sponsor such as Giallo?

At the moment I’m taking it one step at a time. First thing I need to do is drive it and see if I want one...

Thanks - that’s really useful...

If serious about a purchase, get it inspected by a specialist. Another thing to mention to the above would be cracks in the wishbones!

Yes I meant to mention wishbones as part of the poking around underneath bit. And handbrake!

Also, don't get too hung up on it being an LE. That was just an option package at a lower price. It does guarantee a certain spec level but there were plenty of cars built to the LE level before they came out with the package. Just decide which options are important to you

Jon, I would strongly recommend a PPI by Voicey (AV Engineering) before committing to a purchase. Happy to explain why if you want to PM me for a chat.

The sun is out so enjoy the test drive.

It does to me as well. At 25k or less it would seem a very good GS LE to me compared to others. He is Northants way so not sure how local that is for you.

Not really local at all, I’m in Surrey, just off J9 of the M25. However, I bought my GTS from Chester, so am willing to travel...

What does this guy know you as on the Jaguar forum? I thought I might mention where I got the details from as it might help persuade him I’m genuine and not just a tyre-kicker. Happy to swap info via PM if you prefer...

I'm rockits pretty much most forums and public places. I've dropped him a msg anyway to say you might contact. His name is Dan.

I would always get Voicey to take a look. He's meticulous in looking at things, so he would probably spot stuff that someone with a vested interest in selling the car might think "that shouldn't be a problem" and give you the facts for you to make your own decision.

And you can use whatever he finds a a bargaining point to haggle.

ADG and Giallo were never in partnership.

If you decide to buy one majority of the common problems are the same as the 4200. Happy to help out deciphering how to spot them

Got talking to a guy on the Jaguar forum and turns out he is a Maser fan as well and just selling his Gransport. Looks very nice.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Maserati...h=item4b52833db0:g:7JgAAOSwbKdbyi-P:rk:3:pf:1
Appears an excellent example with a first class service history. The owner had it on Ebay on several occasions last summer. He had only owned it a very short time, which raised the usual suspicions, and as the asking price was a chunk more back then I gave it a miss. Don't know if this was the Jag guy or if he bought it and is now also moving it on.

Now very attractively priced and must be worth a look and a PPI. Looks near trade money so may see it on Mr Grace's website soon.

He has an XJL and has just bought a Bentley Flying Spur so guessing a typical petrolhead who gets bored and has lots on the shopping list!

Not sure how long he has had but I can find out.
