For clarity, it is clips specifically that you despise ?

Because I think ties are the best invention ever. Half my house is held up with them :D

Doesn't matter what you try and put them in! This was skirting board!

I know this sounds silly but if you go to your local electrical/cable trade store and buy them the tacks are 100% better than the ones you get from Amazon or Screwfix.

Out of curiosity what cable are you nailing to skirting board? It's something I like to avoid doing as it's unsightly but admittedly sometimes necessary.

Ring doorbell cable. I'll probably get some quadrant channel like I have to route the cables around the living room as it's never going to look good

Yeah quadrant channel is definitely a better look. Or if you have a floating floor on foam underlay (and you are brave enough) you could try to lever the floor down directly below the socket and slide the cable into the little cavity behind the boards. If you can you could slip a round edge in there (put the cable on the side it is going to) and push it across the room to the edge you need it to, I've done this many times with network cables and it works a treat. Patience is key not to trap the cable.

If you are on a nailed down floor or tiles it's more difficult and possibly not worth the risk. Carpet should be easier.

Good thought. It's floating engineered wood, currently with a wood quadrant pinned to the skirt to cover the expansion gap. I didn't put it down though, so not sure how much space there is, but might pop the quarter off and take that as an idea. Cheers

I avoid using where ever I can for exactly the reason I like some feeling in my finger tips. The worse one are masonry clips for external cables, I have no idea what the Irish make their clockwork out of but next to nothing can penetrate it.

Stop hacking my Ring cameras!

Same here. The mortar you can just about get a drill into. The bricks: Not a bloody chance.
