Bye Bye for now...

Although I haven't been very active on the forums recently, I just thought I should pop in to say my goodbyes.

Unfortunately, due to a little bit of bad judgement and I suppose a bit of bad luck, my lovely 3200 slid off a rather greasy M56 on the 14th of June. I ended up in the trees on the embankment, destroying the poor 3200 in the process.

I was unscathed, it seems the crumple zones did their job and kept the inside of the car safe and secure.

The insurance company, predictably, declared the car a total loss and to be fair to them, we managed to settle for a reasonable evaluation that we were both happy with, thanks to some help from Marios at Autoshield who made sure the engineer from Aviva knew what he was looking at and the condition of the car pre-accident.

So, now comes the saddest part, the accident has given my good lady wife opportunity to suggest (or was it demand?) that I should now move to a more sensible family car, something that has more luggage space and is altogether more practical than a sports coupe. Truth be told, having recently discovered an interest in kayaking I did at times feel a bit frustrated that it wasn't really practical to strap a kayak on the roof of the 3200 :)

So, to cut a long story short, I've given in to pressure and agreed to get a "sensible family car" for at least the next 2-3 years. Luckily, I have found the perfect compromise and have ordered the monstrous 6.2L AMG C63 estate. But it's still not a Maserati and I know, one day I will return because only another Maserati will ever fill the hole left by the 3200.

Thanks for the great memories, good luck to you all and please drive safely.

Sad news Rhys, don't be a stranger, pop in from time to time and say hello.

We have a lot of ex-members on here who stay fully involved in the forum despite being Maseratiless, its all about good times!

Sorry to hear the news but at least you are ok. I had one, no I had two 3200s, then left the Masser world and recently came back after roughly 6 years! So I know exactly how you feel with having this hole inside you.

Sorry to hear of the mishap Rhys, but very glad to hear you're okay. It's just a car at the end of the day and, given the unfortunate circumstances, it sounds like you at least settled amicably, which is something given the attitude of insurance companies nowadays.

I fear I may need to whisper this, but you could consider the Kubang? :D

Don't be a stranger and all the best....

Gutted for you as I've said before. I'm sure you'll be back one day but a c63amg isn't a bad place to be. I'll keep an eye out locally or you.

Sorry to hear your loss.

The AMG should be able to provide a few smiles. :)

I was going to suggest a QP but let's be honest, it isn't a family car and there is no way to put roofbars on it for skis or boats.

...but you could always get the estate? :)

Sorry to hear another 32 has gone but you're well and in a cracking car now....they're like street legal NASCARs!!
