Well, as some of you may know, my wife hates cars, and has no ambition to come on an event with me. She pointed out that it was for her, the same a me wanting to go away with her book club members (yuk!), so she has come up with a suggestion.

I am rightly proud of the fact that I can hold my hand up and say that I have never read a book/novel in my life, it just does nothing for me.

So, the wife has said, if I read a book, she will come with me to an event, probably Bristol. She says she will test me on it after, so:

A. Do I give in to the her and do as she says
B. Do you have any suggestions on a book/novel (not too thick) that I might like.

I am your typical blokes bloke, into cars, action films, sports ect.

Please vote!

Being thats she 's a nurse Matt suggest you read Grays Anatomy, sorry but its thick one , but interesting none the less , and half of it you will know already , she will be so impressed with you , you'll earn enough brownie points for a couple of years , reverse Psychology mate believe me it works and foxes women everytime , just maybe, Kaz is a great reader well into her books aswell they might hit it off

I was going to recommend 'Rough Ride' by Jeremy Whittle (inside track on the Tour de France), but then I read that it must be a novel?!
Oh dear.
I think you may have to say no, it seems to me a lot of effort just to be allowed to see a few red cars.
How about you pay for a 'wellness day' in Bristol for her? She relaxes, you look at the motors. Jobsaguddun.

A - Yes
B - Yes

Not a massive book fan myself, unless I'm on a beach.... BUT I suggest you read "The Dice Man" by Luke Rhinehart... a bloke makes all his choices in life by rolling a dice - cult classic that should have enough gravitas to be an acceptable option with the Mrs... see you 2011 :)

Would certainly recommend these as good reads..

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt.
Perfume by Patrick Suskind.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

Life of Pi also gets my vote.
If you can ignore who the author is then a current Ben Elton is an easy one to read.

I recommend Janet and John...ladybird edition...Not that heavy going and lots of colourful pictures.

My advice would be to leave well alone as you know it will only be grief in Bristol trying to keep a non car partner happy!!

However if you insist - try Truckers by Terry Pratchett. I hadn't read a novel for years and came across this - excellent humour!

I have showed it to her, but that was when there were 4 votes for 'Read the book' now there are 2 for "Chop her in", do you think this would stand up in the divorce court as 'reasonable grounds"

Lets hope the judge is a Maserati man! Ha Ha
