Hello all. Thought I would share my recent experience. Currently have two dailies and a classic. This past year I have been with the AA for personal cover for me and the mrs. Cover includes home start, roadside assistance and national recovery. Premium last year was £102.
Renewal for this year is over £200. Needless to say not chuffed and started to look around.
Tried RAC and the same cover on their site was £150 or so.
Anyway, decided to try Compare the market and I got a quote for RAC Essentials which included the same level of cover and it cost £68!
I tried to find this "Essentials" cover on the RAC website and it doesn't seem to exist. Do the insurers have different products for the comparison web sites?

Yes, they do. I can't recall which provider it was last time I moved, but they said point blank they couldn't match the online price *even though it was the same company* *sigh*

Check the age of vehicles covered in the 'Essentials' policy. Green Flag state the age of the vehicle must be under sixteen years when I was last with them for two dailies and two classics.

I find the bank accounts with add ons to be best value. Im with Nationwide and for around £13 per month I get breakdown cover, travel insurance and mobile phone cover.
That’s what I’ve got and it covers all 3 cars.

Yep, I thought about that. No age stipulation in the t's and c's. Seems pretty straight forward.

Good point. Wish I'd thought about that!

My AA cover comes with Lloyds Bank, covers all my cars (including classics) / any car I am in, home start, recovery etc etc - great value.

I do get specialist cover for my EU trips though.

We've also got that policy with Nationwide and they were brilliant when we had our breakdown on the Forum's VEOB bash a couple of years ago
